Hi I am excited to say my girl is on day 61 and doing well . Her temp this morning was 98.5 down from her average of 100.2 .For the 1st time she got into her whelping box last night and apart from toilet visits she has prefered to stay in it .She has refused all food even her favorite treats and she has had 3 short episodes of nesting  and lots of resting .

3pm temp down to 97.7 , she has been resting, well stretched out and although not panting, she is breething rapidly and heavily .I encouraged her to have some water as she hasnt bothered with food or drink at all .

I wonder if we are getting close , she seems very unfazed by it all concidering it's her 1st litter

I am a bit worried that she's not drinking , she's only has a bit of water this morning and another a couple of hours ago , could she dehydrate ?
- By Lopear [gb] Date 26.05.07 16:36 UTC
It's unlikely that she'll dehydrate. As long as water is always available to her, she'll take no harm. She knows what she needs!

good luck with her :D my girl had her litter on Thursday 1st litter too and doing great :D her temp never went below 99.3 keep us updated

She is still in her bed ,but a little earlier I coaxed her out for a quick walk , she was happy and wagging her tail .
Her temp has now gone up tp 99.2 and she has gone back to her bed, no shivering or nesting though ? Has anyone else experienced this , Im not sure her temp should go back up .

She has had huge breasts and milk since day 48 , the vet commented it was quite early ,at 50 days she was xrayed and showed 6 puppies .

My girl has been losing milk since day 51.  I keep thinking oh it might be today, her due date is monday, so i am fingers crossed that she will be fine.  Misty has messed her bed up in the night and thats about it, but strangley she has eaten today as she has been very picky since she got pregnant.  but will only eat pasta and puppy food.  Good luck and hope all goes well.

Kisska only went into her whelping box on Tuesday she started to shred then, she stopped then went back in during the night, she kept going in and out but Wednesday night she slept in there all night no atempts to shred again just panting and no shivering either, she had been a bit fussy with her food also but ate quite a bit on Tuesday night she scoffed the chicken she was given, she went bang on 9 weeks after her 1st mating

With her temp going way down to 97.7 I've read that she should whelp within 24 hours , I hope so but with no panting as such and little activity I wonder!
She won't leave the box now and gets aggressive if any of the others go near , so we shall see

its the waiting thats the hard part :D :D

You should keep your other dogs away from whelping box and room she is going to be with her new puppies. She needs peace to give birth.

Hi Morag
Her room is closed off earlier one of the others popped his head over the barrier to her room which was what caused chaos , I have now solved that and closed off the whole hallway .
I look foreward to bedtime now as the house will be quiet and I can dedicate all of my time and company to her in this important stage  .
I will post any news later
Thanks all
Sally

I thought it had to have been that, when my girl had her first litter last year her mother sat on the stairs until last pup was born and then she went downstairs ,she didn`t attempt to go near until 1 week later when her daughter allowed her to stand at the door.
Hope all goes well

I decided on an early night for us both , but my mum to be has decided to scratch at the door roughly every 20 mins to go outside , she strains and squats but I think her bowel is empty .
Looks like it's going to be a long night
