What do you have on your run floors.

I am in the changing my mood.  I need to get a new roof as the one I have isn't wide enough to stop the wet getting in when it is wet.

My dogs are only in it for spells during the day but as a white breed I am struggling to keep them super clean !!!:rolleyes:

One run has decking in it , that was a trial run but I am still not convinced that is the best flooring.

When I was at Driffield I noticed a lot of the stalls has the hard plastic matting that clipped together, any of you tried it. Now I know there is a chewing possibility but thought it may be an idea for another trial run ;-)

PS if any of you have tried the plastic stuff where did you get it??

My run is concrete slabs as I find it the easiest to keep clean as I can just pressure wash it - plus the dogs cannot damage it or them selves

I seem to have staining problems when using the concrete.

I contacted the company in the link above and the prices were quite reasonable..

I decided to have a bash with this company and do one of the runs to see how it goes.

2.4 x 2.4 area is £160 including shipping. Didn't think that was too bad. Will up date on the product if anyone is interested.

Doesn't look very comfortable at all though? Do you dogs not like to lie outside in the run and watch life go by?

my akita never seems to want to sleep on anything soft (the lab is a different matter tho - but I am not putting my kingsize bed outside :))

Yip they do but the water is getting in and it seems to stain their harsh white coats at times. I won't use stain removing products on them so I have to find a soloution , somehow :-))

I didn't know it was possible to keep a dog clean ;-) It may be a bit lux but how about some linoleum. The high quality stuff that is a little padded for comfort, hard wearing and seamless for easy cleaning. I also have one of those dog hammocks that keeps them off the ground. So doggie deck chairs might be a comfort solution. (well mine is asleep on our bed so that would be roughing it and he's cleaned almost daily but never for very long) in the river, in the mud, in the ocean, in the fox poo.. :-D

Ahh so that is what I am doing wrong..!!

Cushion floor is not good in the run part as the piddle would get everywhere I guess. I wanted something that the water , fluid can go down.

It is coming on Friday so will let you know how it goes. :-)

Hmmmmm .....would the wee/poo not get trapped underneath and make the whole thing smell ?

Yvonne

oops - went in the wrong place - I'm talking about that plasic flooring :D

it is locked together is 30 x 30cm sections that just lift. I lift my sectional decking just now and power wash every other day.  These would hopefully lighter to lift as the sections are smaller. BUT it comes on Friday so honest review will be post ;-)  I have only bought 1/5 of the floor area just in case.  :-) Didn't want to spend the whole £900 at worse to find it rubbish. :-)

What was it like??

I use rubber matting, equine kind. It works for my mares and they can send a river running through! I find it great for the dogs too. It comes in allsorts of sizes or jigsaw fit, easily hosed down although we do have part concrete as well.

Thank you, I was considering that as I find it brilliant for the horses!! Wanted personal opinion from someone who has used it though
