- By jestony [gb] Date 08.05.07 21:15 UTC
Yes they are due out any day now as the KC sent me my renewal form about a week ago for my subscription and it says on there that they are about to be sent.
- By lel [gb] Date 10.05.07 13:05 UTC
Thanks everyone :)

Did you get your BRS lel? Haven't had my copies yet, they seem late this quarter. If others have received theirs, I'll chase mine.

Bah humbug - have no reason for 'needing' it other than the usual pure nosiness - it bugs me that they take six weeks to get these out in the normal run of things, hope the lateness isn't going to be a regular feature.

Mine didn't arrive today. :(

Mine has popped through the door as I was reading this :D

You and Julie are just showing off now. :( If you have the Pastoral and/or Working ones, could you just summarise the entirety of the Rough Collie and Dane bits please, including any bits that you think might tickle my fancy.

Sigh ... hopefully they'll come tomorrow.

You can see the breed figures on the kennel club website.

Looks a bit better with ours, 30 pups registered in the first quarter (7 of them mine), compared to 20 last year with years end figure of only 84.

Only thing is that puppy enquiries are very few too, and the litters bred recently all had last one or two pups taking a time to find suitable homes, though twice as many unsuitable ones turned away by all the breeders.

Sadly one of my friends puppy buyers told him that she had seen a six week old litter in the big commercial kennel in the North of England many of us who deal with rescue know about.

This is likely to be where the unsuitable owners wil get a puppy and then rescue will be pickign up the pieces in the next 6 to 18 months or so.

Wish that we only had a few pups being born in my breed, unfortunately it looks like way too many are being bred now and I'm getting worried what is going to happen to my breed as they are not the easiest for first time owners and I just can't see how the numbers being bred can be put into suitable homes!  I struggle with my concience (can't spell again today) as it is with the one litter ever 12 to 18 months as it is.

How many spanish are bieng bred now then?

Our breed needs more being bred and owned by people who know what they are doing as numbers this low hard to keep breed on an even keel and wide enough gene base.

We have never been much over the number that makes a British breed listed as vulnerable.

I would love there to be twice as many dogs and exhibitors in the rings as there is now.

Dito to what you have just said Brainless!!

That is why I have a bitch puppy booked from US/Australian breeding here in Germany to take back with me to the UK while I have the opportunity to do it.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 26.05.07 12:11 UTC
Nightmare isn't it.  This is why I get so cross with the commercial litters that are produced in my breed as they don't help our breed as a whole, just cause enthusiasts heartache.

Still not received my BRS - I want Gundog group - has anyone had theirs yet?
- By chocymolly [gb] Date 27.05.07 06:42 UTC
Yep :D
Got mine on Friday :) hows the puppy doing?
- By Gabrielle Date 26.05.07 13:09 UTC
Wish that we only had a few pups being born in my breed,

Diane, how I agree with you sooooooooo much.
Since we got CC's you will not believe some of the enquiries for puppies I have had as puppy list co-ordinator........  :(

The latest one this week being several enquiries for a ''mini and toy aussie'' :(

You know I really do feel for you people with popular breeds. :(  I'm so glad that my breeds are less popular - if we have more than one rescue a year it's considered a bad year!  I'd hate to have to deal with all the idiots and the heartache that goes with large numbers.

Your rescue co-ordinator has just rehomed one of my dogs and i had the pleasure of meeting some beautiful SWD while i was there. :)

Was that Di or Lynne?  We do have many delightful dogs but unfortunately if new owners don't do anything with them even just the simple things such as obedience then they will have a dog with problems!!  Most of our breed that are rehomed have come from homes where they've not done much with them, then taken them to a behaviourist who of course hasn't got a clue about the breed and then ended up with bigger problems than what they started with.

Such a shame as I've had them for 15 years, now have 6 and I adore the breed!!!

Shes adopted Tala, and she hoping to use her in her training sessions.

For anyone who just wants the registraion stats you can find them here: http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=1128&d=pg_dtl_art_news&h=242&f=0

Not that easy to find the pages on the Kennel club website.
