Does anyone know which foods can cause ear infections.
My poor boy is on 3rd lot of anti biotics with threat of 'going under'  for a look, if they dont work this time.
He is mainly on JWB adult maintenance with occasional chicken wings.
Should I start looking at this diet?

Hi Karen,

unfortunately ANY ingredient can either alone or in a combination cause ear and other problems if the dog is allergic or intolerant to any ingredient being fed to it.

The most common intolerances are beef, chicken, dairy, gluten (any form), wheat, corn/maize.  If you want to start looking towards a change of diet then it would be better to find either a complete with minimal *novel* ingredients such as Wafcol Salmon & Potato or prepare a novel ingredient based home diet whether cooked, part cooked or raw.

HTH, best wishes,
Teri :)

if you think it really is due to a food allergy then you can do a food trial for 6 weeks or more on a hypoallergenic food to see if theres any difference- good luck

One of my dogs gets a bad ear (hot, red, waxy, irritated)  if fed on food that is too rich for her.  I have found that for her a mix of Burns active and ordinary Burns works very well.  She used to be fine on the Active until they increased the oil content  yet loses weight on normal Burns

Don't know if it's of any help to you tho?

it may not be the food thats cousring the problem,
it be allergies to grasses .trees, feathers, the biggest problem is storage mites.

get him tested for this as well.
