Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Preggy bitch with upset tum

I have a bitch - 7 weeks in whelp.
She has been doing really well, but now has the runs . . . . not sure why, nothing has changed ie diet, routine etc.
Usually I'd fast a dog for 24 hours, whilst treating with Montmorillonite, but as she is in whelp with what looks to be a potentially large litter, I'm not wanting to deprive her of food . . . so what can you suggest please?

Give her something very light to eat in small quantities and something kaolin based for her tummy.    One of my girls developed an upset tum whilst nursing a litter and the vet said kaolin is fine to give them.

This may seem a silly question but where can you buy kaolin for your dog from? And what dosage would you reccommend?

regards

I buy the plain kaolin (without morphine) at cocal chemists, and dose as I would for a child of that size.

I got mine fron Canine Chemist, dosage depends on the size of the dog.

Thanks, but she is on chicken & rice & still squitting through the eye of a needle.
I use Montmorillonite, which is supposed to be better than Kaolin, from www.aviform.co.uk
Vet has said that he can't give her any antibiotics, as they could kill the puppies
I feel so sorry for her.

:confused: Synulox is perfectly safe for pregnant animals and is frequently used in pregnant bitches and queens.
