The only way you can be certain of a show prospect is to buy a grown dog, that is why breeders don't make every dog they keep into a champion (if only) at the puppy stage you can only pick what seems most promising, and then different people would choose diferently. also show quality means different things to different people. to some it means only those dogs with a good chance of becoming a champion, in my breed that is 3 to 6 exhibits a year (UK System), to others it is a dog that can hold its own in classes at Championship shows, not consistently coming last, lol! To others it would be a dog that can win at Open Shows (especially in golden Retrievers where the classes at Ch shows are so large that most are unplaced).
Going to a successful breeder after studying the breed and deciding which of the winning exhibits type you like best is the way to improve your chances of getting a show prospect, but there is no guarantee of success, it is what we are all hoping for when we look at those newborn pups, will one of these be a world beater, well actually my thoughts are usually will they be loved enough, then will someone show the best one and win!
