Topic Dog Boards / General / Car cages
- By Tenaj [gb] Date 21.05.07 16:36 UTC
Hi..I just changed car and now have one I can fit the dogs in better with a square back and I would like a cage for the car that would hold them both comfortably so that at shows I can leave the tailgate open and keep them safe and cool. Any ideas what is available and where best to get these? Thanks.

i vote for barnesbrook everytime http://www.dogcages.net

Much cheaper and better built than Barjo! IMO!

I've always used a dog guard and tailgate, I've bought from both guardsman and barjo and found them both great. Both are virtually silent, the guardsman tailgate was quit fiddly to fit but very easy to remove if required.

quite fiddly that is - makes you want to quit :D

I got mine from MMG, it's very well made, made to fit the car, with the option of a divider, 2 doors, escape door, locking doors, 1" or 2" square mesh......................only downside was, it took 9 weeks to be made and delivered and wasn't cheap, so if your in a rush.......

oh forgot about MMG, they're very good too...my first guard came from them, don't think it took nearly as long as yours CM but that was years ago.

We have barjo tailgate and for the dog gaurd it's the old cars (astra) tailgate attached via bugees. Gives much more room in a boot compared to even a fitted cage and also feel it's easier to remove in case of accident as you just put back seats down and everything comes away.

Did notice new car came with made to fit dog gaurd (well I think it's designed to stop luggage falling onto back seats but it does job!) :D Only seen Dad's new car for a weekend.

I'll second the Barnesbrook. It really is silent and unfolds in the car so you get the maximum amount of space for your dogs plus, you can take it out of the car quite easily on your own. Great if you need access to your spare tyre or room to carry something large home. The guy who makes them is very helpful and will custom make it to suit your needs.
