Must be really nice hotel.  ( I am quite a fussy moo)

Must be safe,  well have a safe feeling when you ponder around. :-)

Nice weather. Things to go look at it..

We tend to walk around a lot.

Not much of a brief is it ;-)

Try Slovenia :) :) Sea, mountains, (small) city, caves, culture :) :) Hire a car and spend a few days in the mountains by the lakes, then go down to the sea (Adriatic) then finish in the city :)

Went to Sunny Beach about 20 years ago!!!  I expect things have changed a bit since then.  The food was very samey, the accomodation adequate - we had young children then.   We hired a car - not what they really wanted us to do then - it wasn't cheap and drove inland. Everything was really old fashioned and poor - women out in the fields with hand tools.  We took a cruise ship (russian - cavier for breakfast) to Istanbul - 2 nights on board - a full day in Istanbul - that was such an exciting place especially compared to what was then communist Bulgaria.  We got very friendly with our tour guide and his wife and still exchange the odd e-mail - however we have never felt that we want to go back there.

My Oh loves Turkey but I get anxious thinking about it for some reason..  US is less safe but I seem to feel safer. :-)

We went too about 15 years ago...............horrible ver y communist then, food same every where you went everyone was going down with D+V. The currency was Lev and there were certain shops you could only buy using $or£s, that was western type things like cola., consequently the locals desperatley wanted to exchange money so they could buy what we could buy. I would never go back. It is meant to be a lot better now but I hated it.
Karen:rolleyes:

That's right Karen and all you could buy were cola's, ice cream, tomatoes or melons!  Do you remember the Coricom shops that only Westerners could shop from - that is why they wanted western money so badly to buy the goods that were in there.  As I said we made friends with our travel rep who was our age.  He has kept in touch but only because he thinks that we are interested into going into business with him!  The last thing he tried to get us interested in was property.  A lot of people have got into buying cheap property there hoping that it will be a good investment.   We said no thanks!

I went as a kid with parents um...... ooh err 18 years ago....

Very communist yes, people wanting to exchange money....

I actually loved it, although the lady with the stainless steel teeth gave me a few odd dreams (she was lovely though once i got over my initial ARGH OMG).....

Food, mm, again this was 18 years ago i expect it is MUCH better now.

The hotel we had was vast and luxurious for naff all money, the country itself i recall as being quite pretty (asides from waht felt like a million miles of fields of fruit trees on the way to the resort - it WAS winter though as it was a skiing holiday)...

Id go there for a summer holiday, yeah!

My mum went a couple of years ago and she absolutely loved it, not a country I would have chosen myself but the photo's looked lovely and she had such a good time, I guess what really makes a holiday no matter what is who you go with, as long as there is a beach, some sunshine a nice pool and drinks and food anywhere can be fabulous if you are with someone you enjoy spending your time with. :-)

I went about 4 years ago to Albena, just as the Brits were starting to visit again.
The hotels were very clean, food Ok but a bit limited and very Germanic in type which is Ok if you like sausage, pork and chicken the way they cook it.
The beaches were beautiful and the beach resorts are semi gated & guarded to stop the gypsies coming in and pestering you on the beach selling their wares, althugh one or two did sneak in it wasnt a problem.
We went for a week I wouldnt go to Albena for two weeks, Sunny Beach is a livlier resort but then again Ive heard its a bit like Blackpool in the Sun, all depends what type of holiday you want I suppose.
Would go back again maybe to Elenite ..
