We call people like farmers the oddest of names us being townies
culchies
spud bashers
muck savages
turnip bashers
bog warriors
butterballs
rasher gnashers
anyone with any more

Well us country folk just call you lot Townies ...no need for any other names ;)

Hubby grew up in Southern New Jersey on the coast....no, it's south of the Noi Joiwsey accent area :rolleyes:
Townies are still called Shoebies by locals
(the area used to be the end of the Philadelphia RR line. Families would come out for the day/week with their lunches in shoe boxes).

Squonions are people/families who have moved into the area from outside the region. He thinks it might be an old fashioned Native American name for "Stranger"

some of my family live in norfolk, and we used to call the locals swedes, i dont know why!!!!
