Topic Dog Boards / Health / Bonnie needs ECG!

Bonnie 10 months today has been 'under the weather' since last evening. This morning she passed a 'porridgy' poo with a bit of blood and was off her food Having lost a dog last year quite unexpectedly I'm loathe to hang around so took her straight down to the vet. He wasn't actually that concerned about her tummy, gave the usual advice along with antibiotics and some pro-kolin. However, he did listen to her chest and found she has an irregular heartbeat and asked if she faints at all (which she doesn't) She's usually a very active, a perfectly normal young pup. She's been very quiet all day but is following me round as usual. She has none of her usual bounce though. She does seem a little brighter this evening. The vet said to organise an ECG in a couple of weeks when she's back to normal. I'm totally paranoid now and know I'm going to be really panicky when she starts running around again!
I need some of your positive vibes please!

No diarrhoea but she's still a very sad doggy. She doesn't seem to have much ooomph. In fact I have just spoken to the vet again as I'm not happy with her. I am taking her back for another exam. at 1.30 and may push for some blood tests to be checked. Will keep you posted

Just to update. Been back to the vet. He gave her another good look over. No lumps , swelling, tenderness, temp. fine and---- heart rate back to normal.!He took some bloods and has just phoned with the results--white cells are up so she is definitely fighting some infection, and her haemoglobin is at the lower end of normal, but he is not worried about that as her gums etc are all pink and healthy. So hopefully all is well and things will improve over the weekend. Have to ring on Mon if she hasn't improved. Think I'll go out and get her a bit of liver to get that iron level up!

Ahhh hope all's well soon!  Maybe it's similar to what my old girls just had? THere's my vet giving me the presumed diagnosis of lymphoma and three days later she's back to her old mad self.  Took just over a week for the antibiotics to kick it but I'm hoping that we have turned the corner and that she may just make her 14th birthday in October.  Can't believe that just over a week ago I was thinking of having her PTS!
