Hi not posted on here for ages but looking for advice.

We have just found a dead fox in our garden shed  What do we do?

Not gone in for a real close look but Jamie says it does not look Decomposed as yet. It is lying on one side so no idea what conditon other side of fox is in.

Concerns are mange what with having two dogs.

Any advice would be a help. At moment it is still in the shed.

My house backs on to a small wooded area and we used to see lots of foxes but over the last couple of years not seen that many. Have read that if the dead fox has mange others in woods would need to be treated.

Cheers Karen

I think Environmental Health might take it away for you.  Don't know if there would be any charge though.

You could look up their website under your own council maybe but I see here Manchester for instance will come and take a dead animal away on the same working day with no mention of any charge.

How long has it been since you looked in your garden shed Karen?  Has it been locked in and died or can animals access it in and out?

If it has been locked in and died I would take JG's option,

If it could get out, but has died anyway then I would get the authorities to look at it, it may have died from something unsavory, or it may be old age or have been hurt and crawled in there to die, but I guess it would be best to be investigate.
