Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog cover for sofa

Hi
I have a blanket for Molly to lay on the sofa, but it does get a doggy smell quite quickly. I'm getting a new sofa soon & I've heard of a cover that fits the sofa especially for dogs, but can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet. I guess the fabric doesn't absorb the smell as normal blankets do. Has anyone else heard or this cover?
Thanks

Why not buy a leather sofa or a comfy bed to sit beside your sofa and don't allow her on to it.  I think all fabrics will smell eventually.

Yes Isabel, I was thinking of a leather sofa, but have just ordered a fabric one. I was also thinking, as you say, not to let her up anymore :-( . But I do love her cuddles! I think I'll have to play it by ear & see how firm I can be :-)

Get a comfy and big enough dog bed and you can join her there for a cuddle :)

I agree with Isabel. We bought at great cost:eek:a lovely leather sofa, 2 armchairs and a footstool. It's great and worth every penny spent on it. I wipe it down every day with a baby wipe and it looks great. And also now gone, are the days of argueing with OH about the dogs on the furniture...bliss.

My solution is to buy a couple of big bedspreads at the thrift store.  The fibrefill padding in them absorbs wet and mud from a dog fresh from the water and keeps the chesterfield clean.  They fit in my washing machine.  Amazingly, I have two that even match the colours in my basement.  I have another one for the back of the car.

I am thinking of getting new sofas.....I was thinking of Leather ones. Are they better when you have dogs (mine are allowed on the furniture) than fabric ones? I was a bit worried that claws might scratch/damage the leather. Thoughts anyone?

My dog is not allowed on the sofa. She doesn't mind, she drags her donut bed about and digs it into position wherever we happen to be.  She's in it behind me in the study at the moment ;) My son gets on her bed with her for crushing cuddles :D  I'll just sit on the floor and she climbs into my lap, awwww.

These are brilliant, they do not let hair, dirt or anything else through and are fully washable.
