Topic Dog Boards / General / Parvo Virus in local park
- By Wizaid [gb] Date 02.05.07 15:09 UTC
On the news last night I was shocked to found out the park I walk in three to fours days a week had an out break of parvo virus

They had discovered a dead fox and once tested it came back positive for the virus.

Kez is up to date and fully vacinated but this still concerns me as after arriving back today there are signs everywhere warning us about it.

Your advise needed

1 - What are the chances of a vacinated dog contracting the virus
2 - Would you avoid the enviroment for a while

Thanks

Saw in our local paper that 3 cases of Parvo had been found in Maldon. All 3 affected dogs had been walked along the Promenade. Not sure if any champdoggers come from around this area?

I saw this too....... that's about 30 miles from here, but this weekend there is the "All about dogs" show at Brentwood - midway between here and Maldon ......I'm wondering about incubation periods, and whether it could be transmitted to this area in this manner - we weren't going to be able to go in any case - other commitments, but its a concern worth considering.

We were thinking about going to that show, weather forecast is quite bad anyway but good point Margot
