Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / pup that shakes whilst walking

Hi

My girl had 7 wonderful pups 3 weeks ago, they are all doing really well and putting on weight well, they have all doubled their body weight in a week. I have a question regarding one of the pups. When he walks he shakes, he walks fine and seems to have lots of strength to play. none of the other pups do it just him, he has been alright up to now, he is eating well and is in good shape in every other way. Any suggestions?

Thanks

GG

GG, I would personally take him to have a check at the vets to be on the safe side. Is he wobbling continously or just now and then ? Let us know how you get on

Well, it sounds like some sort of neurological problem, but to be honest the only way to know for sure is to get a Veterinary opinion?? I would take him to be seen for a proper assessment hun, all the best, Dawn

I have seen a pup like this in a litter. After a few weeks she started walking normally and has done ever since. But not all cases are the same so to be on the safe side I'd get the pup checked over by a vet. She was one of the biggest in a litter of 12.

Never seen this myself, but the pup is only 3 weeks, and just starting to walk and find his feet, I would wait and see for another week, if the pup has a problem it will still be there in another week or two, if he were dragging his legs that is different, but if he is playing on his feet fine and just a little shaky when walking at present I would put that down to him getting used to walking this pup may just be taking longer to adjust,  if the problem is still there at 4+ weeks call your vet for advice and the relavant tests can then be done. Fingers crossed it is not an on going problem.

Thanks Everyone!

I have spoken to the vet and she said it is quite normal for a pup to shake as they build up their muscle strength, But I am an old worry bag so have booked him in on Monday for a check, just to be on the safe side!!

Not greedy and soon after eating is it as this is the only time when I really see them shaking.
