I have just got a dodgy email saying its from paypal confirming my payment for a coin collection, in american dollars. Warning bells went off immediately, so i went to check my paypal account (not through the nicely placed 'dispute payment' button the email provided, went through my reliable favourites) only to find, thankfully, no such payment has been made. I'm assuming it is the same scam they try with ebay accounts, but i've never had one from a paypal source before so thought i'd warn you all. The email will now be put safely in my deleted items

I've had a few too   The new one this morning was a warning from paypal about a fishing email and to click on the link for more info - which of course required you to sign in. I forward them all on to either ebay or paypal in the hope they can track the offenders down. I think the best advice is never click on any link in any email - always go through your bookmark/favourites :)

Yep, had one on Friday, saying there was an unpaid item on my account?!!  It wasn't even my ebay name so I forwarded to spoof email address who confirmed it didn't originate from them!

Hi Ya, Had one a few months ago nearly $900 for a dell computer :confused:like you didn't trust the link attached so logged on via google to check nothing ! reported that one straight away also had it done via e bay. Really gets my goat how people do this and do get others sucked in. Had it once on a car too, advertised it in autotrader, next day got an e mail offering full amount.... could I send them my bank details for transfer of money and they would pick the car up at such a time !!!! thought my luck was in until the name of the e mail was something like out of africa. Then I remember seen it on watch dog Agggghhhhhh again drives me mad :mad:

Got caught last year by a fake paypal email. Was paying for a game my son wanted when this email came up telling me I'd gone over my paypal limit??? Like a fool I answered then realised & cancelled my response but it was too late. £490 was taken from my account by someone in germany in 3 amounts. Barclays did refund it in the end, luckily. The response from paypal was very poor to be honest.

It's a big scam out of Africa. Don't use any links from you personnel e-mail account and tell Ebay ASAP of what's happened. It is safer to write in the Ebay address into the link bar for access to your account and then change your password. When you do this, it changes your account details also.
