i have just got home from my local tescos while walking around i found 2 bags of fresh minced beef that were in the reduced to clear section so i though i will get them for the dogs. Problem now is im not to sure what to do with it can i just give them some of it mixed in with their dryed food (they usually have a tin of butchers mixed in with dryed food) or should i cook it before i give it to them? So much for my bright idea for a treat for the dogs i dont know what to do with it now next time i must stop and think.

Raw mixed in will be fine!!!
Please DO NO just give it raw. You need to freeze it first for a couple of days, then you can give it raw. Or cook it. I can't remember what the bacteria is that can be present in raw beef but it can be very dangerous to dogs, but it is destroyed by freezing or cooking. Hope your dogs enjoy it.

Mine have had raw minced beef for 5 years and I've never had a problem?
Hi Carla
My family dogs all had cooked bones and never once had a problem and I used to give my dogs grapes. But I don't any more! It might not be a huge risk, but I can't see the point in taking it.

Sorry Carina - forgot about the freezing first didn't read it not being frozen mince! You are of course quite right!
Hi Rachel
I've just skim read the link that's been put up and it seems that not everyone agrees that freezing helps. But I always freeze mince for them first.
Carina

I feed all meats raw but they are all frozen first and then defrosted!!
thanks for the advice its now in the freezer they can have it in a couple of days, im so glad i came on here and asked first
