Just been to a very interesting seminar, given by Keith Shea of Total Breeding Solutions. He explained his background (in pig fertility) and how this has translated succesfully to dogs. Also went into possible infertility problems and solutions in both dogs and bitches, scanning process, sperm testing etc. Can thoroughly recomend attending one of these seminare for anyon interested in breeding/fertility. And also got a chance to buy fit n fertile :)

Gwen, isn't this the man who sells Pregtectors too? Was he selling them as well?
- By gwen [gb] Date 12.09.02 16:43 UTC

Hi Gwen,

I have been using Fit and Fertile on three of my dogs for about one month. Initially I wanted to improve coat which is apparently a side effect of the product.

1. Fleur - 9 year old Cavalier bitch, never got full coat and particularly tail back after her first litter, she now is developing good quality coat and a TAIL with feathers.

2. Toddy - 6 Year old Cavalier male, somewhat over anxious stud, but does produce the 'goods' when we eventually manage a mating. I want to use him on my young bitch this next season and thought it would not do him any harm to have extra help. His coat is just beautiful, thick and silky and rich colour.

3. Star - 18 month old Cavalier bitch, planning to mate as above but her coat is also showing improvement, although slow.

Don't know how many people on the boards read Dog World and Jane Lilley but she reports excellent results.

Would be interested in hosting a seminar here in Yorkshire for my ringcraft club. Does anyone know what it might cost??

ive just managed to get my hands on a pot of it---so far my picky eater is now clearing a good sized bowl herself,!!! too soon to tell what else, however im giving it to the mother to be-i'll let you know if i think theres any difference to previous 2 litters :D

I was worried about minnies undercoat and got some and its improving my only annoyance is I ordered two tubs got billed for two and only got one but the stuff is very good.:) and I know it wont be their fault mustve been lost in the post so I blame the post office !! there may be some posties trying it on their wives LOL ;)
- By mari [ie] Date 12.09.02 23:52 UTC
Or themselves Mattie lol:D
I got two tubs in the post this morning as well so will be letting you know how it does for Babs

Hi Mari

If a dog has an underactive thyroid then putting them on the correct dose of Soloxine generally improves it and all the other associate problems. Takes around 6 weeks.

Thank you Christine she is now on the mend .
I have had good news as well she does not have A.I .D. It is just the coat now . I still suspect the booster vaccine caused it

Yes, he seems a great guy - met him once before the seminar at my partners kennels in Blackpool, where he was doing a sperm mobility test for a friend. I think various clubs around the country are inviting him to speak - I know this is the second he has done in N. Yorks recently, and just done one in Coventry too. The tickets for the 1 I attended were £6 each inc. supper - of course he gets the opportunity to sell his products after, so I think most of the ticket cost goes to the club. Mike used fit n fertile on Arabella after her litter early this year, and she was back in the ring (and winning groups) when the pups were 11 weeks old! I have bought it to use on Libby - not for coat reasons, as she is clipped off, waiting for motherhood. Unfortunately, motherhood seems an awfully long way off as she has only had 1 season (she is over 3 years old). I think she has inherited her grandmas strange fertility (infertility?) paterns. Will report on results.

so you can give this to a bitch in whelp,my flatcoat retriever is 4 week in so should i give it her all the way though and after.
- By nutkin [gb] Date 13.09.02 19:45 UTC
I have seen this fit n fertile advertised in dogs world.
What does it do exactly. Someone said it improves the
coat. So what will it do??
I am always after trying something new in hope. So please
let me know.

- By gwen [gb] Date 14.09.02 08:03 UTC
Hi Nutkin & Briedog Apparently, it was originally formulated to assist with fertility problems, and contains a whole load of mineral, vitamins etc (inc. folic acid) which can help correct deficiencies which lead to fertility problems, it is in a milk powder base, smells great, and the dogs love it. It can be fed pre & during pregnancy, to a nursing bitch, and to pups too! Also used on sub-fertile dogs. Apparently the side effect of coat improvement was first reported in the Jane Lilley column, and now loads of people are buying it just for the coat improvement.

anyone know if I can get this across the big pond?
I am very interested in trying it out on my brood. I have a male who is having problems getting the job done, will this product help in that area also??

Thanks!

karen, are you using it on yours,? ive just started mine off with it--definitley improved one appetite, too soon to tell much else :)
- By peilady [gb] Date 15.09.02 20:53 UTC
Yes Dizzy. I've been using it for nearly 12 months now. I have also been using Keiths Pronto Joule to, great for newborn puppies and tired whelping bitches. Josh my chocolate dysplastic male, no hip sockets at all, was a picky eater, but I had to have him slightly underweight to compansate for his hips etc, but since I put him onto it he's improved 100% will eat anything or everything you offer now. This poor lad is a walking advert for bad breeding,he's had every known problem that this breed unfortunately has to offer, right down to 2 bouts of fevers, but he loves life to the full and as long as he is happy and pain free then this is all that matters, he's a little star a total gentleman and at nearly 4 this is a miracle he's still on the planet, I know he won't be a contender for the longevity stakes, but every day is an added bonus for Josh and I.
- By dizzy [gb] Date 15.09.02 21:02 UTC
its heartbreaking when they arent well, its an awful illness in the breed , the fevers, bad enough having to cope with those without having basd hips too, --hope he keeps on doing well, . :)
- By staffie [gb] Date 16.09.02 16:13 UTC
My Dogue de Bordeaux bitch had a litter but sadly failed to produce milk so the pups had to be hand reared.
Ella went into deep depressions and her hormones were all over the place. A side effect of all this was he coat went into terrible condition and she lose loads of weight.
A friend of ours suggested fit and fertile so I ordered a tub.
Three weeks on from using it and she could go in the ring and lok fantastic, just wish I had known about it sooner as if I had given it to her whilst pregnant maybe would have produced milk.

Just bought Fit n Fertile for the first time. I only have an Italian Greyhound yet the dose seems to be the same for all size dogs. What dose do other people give for smaller dogs?
- By gwen [gb] Date 22.09.02 20:27 UTC
Hi Jan, I forgot to ask him about different doseages, but a friend with King Charles Spaniels did ask, and was told about a teaspoon for toy breeds, per day.
Gwen.
