Can I just ask your advice as I have tried nearly everything!!
My pups are coming up 3 weeks old!
The thing is they seem a little restless after mum has fed them and take ages to settle down.
Today has been very hot and they seemed hot, so we put a fan in the room to circulate the air and that seemed to settle them, so could it be they are too hot?
I have started feeding them pedigree porridge which they love, and this does not seem to be any problems, their stools are fine, no runs so no upset tums.
Could it also be that they are getting hungrier?
They are alseep at the moment, the window is open a bit, but mum feeds them and they all start up again!!!

if it is very hot have you tried to get them lapping water from a saucer? they may be getting more thirsty eating more than just mums milk

Are they perhaps just getting bored? I find at this age pups need to start walking about exploring and indeed it is the age I start take mine outside when the weather is nice and let them stay out for a few hours each day, (building it up gradaually from half an hour or so, and we are not talking about the bottom of the garden, but right close to the house with the door open so we can see them all the time) as they're not content just being indoors in the whelping box any more. They're finding their feet and wanting to do things.

Sounds like they're still hungry?  Give them some porridge.

Also suckling does take effort, so if they are hot this will make them hotter.  I have certainly foudn this a problem with a couple of litters born when the weather was hot,  a September, and a July litter come to mind.

If overheating is the problem I used bottles of frozen water wrapped in a towel in one end of the whelping box which they could be near if too warm.

Ah thanks everyone, yes I think they must still be hungry and getting bored too!
I have got a Puppy pen being delivered tomorrow so will set it up in the garden close to the house.
They love the porridge and I have tried them with cooled down boiled water today and some liked it.

Thanks again for your advice xx:cool::cool:

Gem, any further questions, please add them to one of your numerous threads. There shouldn't be any need to open a new one for every query, many thanks :)
