I've been away for a couple of weeks and only this morning was told the sad news of Jim's death. I know some on here are also admirers of his and Alison's work.
I have been so shocked and saddened by this cruel loss.
His dedication to helping primates was remarkable and I'm sure this will continue through Alison.
There are few 'famous' people who I wanted to meet, sadly this will never happen. I did have a bright and cheerful "Hello" from him last time I visited Monkey World when he realised I recognised him !. Wish now that I'd overcome my shyness and shaken his hand.
A wonderful, kind and selfless man.

I was shocked by his death too, didn't realise he was unwell. Monkey World is about an hour's drive from me and I've visited there several times.
Agree he was wonderful, very special.

He will be missed,

I must say. I'm struggling to understand anything anymore.
Does anybody else find their faith or belief completely wiped out ?. Sad things happen I know but sometimes I desperately want answers and Jim's loss is one of these times.
It's really made me question things. If somebody like him, who did nothing but good in the world and wanted nothing out of it for himself (apart from realising his dream of wiping out this cruel trade) then what's the point ?.
People found Princess Diana's death shocking...............to me that was nothing compared to this.

I hope there is a Rainbow Bridge for primates with Jim looking over them.

I know it broke my heart too when I read it in the paper a small section I must add, monkey world has been one if my favourite programmes over the last fews years and what Jim and Alison did was fantastic, they loved each other dearly and the cause they tried so hard to stop. I have expericenced first hand the wrong doing in the far east and they were people who was wanted to stop this and most of all educate people. Lets hope he can rest in peace knowing that Alison and the team will carry on the good work in his name.

On a more positive note... It occured to me last night while thinking about Jim and monkey world... Imagine the meeting he got when he reached the bridge...
Well worth all the work you did.. all the tears you cried... everything

Arched I understand what you mean.
I felt a bit like that when I heard about Steve Irwin last year - and again with Jim Cronin -as they say, only the good die young.

I have my own beliefs but sometimes it's hard to keep any kind of faith.
