HI PEOPLE, MATED MY BITCH 2 WEEKS AGO, HAD 2 REALLY GOOD TIES 20 MINS AND 35 MINS!, ABOUT 2 DAYS LATER SHE SATARTED BLEEDING AGAIN, THIS FINISHED ON WHAT WOULD BE DAY 21 OF HER SEASON. IT WAS WATERY RED TO START WITH AND THEN EASED TO REDDISH BROWN ON DAY 19. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK REGARDING HER CHANCES OF BEING IN WHELP. sHE HAD A LITTER OF 8 2 YEARS AGO BUT MISSED LAST TIME, HONESTLY CANT REMEMBER IF THIS HAPPENED FIRST TIME

That sounds quite common, all my girls have a slight bleed a couple of days after mating, some quite heavily, so far none of them have missed.

Good luck.

My Mums dog was bleeding right through her season, she had two really good ties and now has 8 days until D Day! You can see the wee ones moving now in her tummy. Its really exciting. I wish you well and hope all goes to plan!

My bitch bleeds right through her seasons, and we had 3 matings this time, so I'm joining you in the finger crossing! :-)

I find it promising that it seems that the bleeding can be a natural thing, her mum had 2 litters without this ever happening, and as I say I honestly cant remember whether it happened with her first litter 2 years ago, when she had 8 pups. I am perhaps a little paranoid with her having missed last time! Roll on 10th April when she is booked for her scan. I will keep you all informed as to how we are progressing. cheers di

I was taught to write down every detail from the bitch coming into season.  I find it invaluable later when memory fails. :)

yes Val I was told to keep a record I put everthing in it ...makes a good read as you do forget quite a bit .

We we now 2 and half weeks past matings, she not giving any hints either way yet. having been watching the posts on gemini05 and her new litter so getting quite broody. My girl has not had any more bleeding since what would have been day 21 of her season. I cant wait for 10th April when we go for the scan though very a little apprehensive cos when she missed last time we were convinced she was in whelp. cheers di

Just Mated my bitch 2 weeks ago she did the same she did it last time and had 5 puppies
- By tudorfield [gb] Date 01.04.07 16:19 UTC
Well now 3 weeks since first mating. She has today refused breakfast but guarded it with her life even growled at her mum when she went for a nibble, this is very very unlike her, normally the most placid natured bitch, and also normally the most greedy never leaves any food. What do you think? sounds promising for pregnancy or just being cranky?
- By GG1 [gb] Date 01.04.07 16:57 UTC
Sounds Very Promising!  But you can never tell. Lots of people will tell you that a phantom can be just as realistic as a real pregnancy. I had a blood test done at 30 days post mating to see if something called relaxin was present in the blood, apparently only there in a real pregnancy, mine was a strong possitive and I have a girl who is ready to whelp anytime now!! I will keep everything crossed for you!!!

I have been watching your puppy progress and good luck now it very near! WE have had 3 litters before 2 from our bitches grandma but she was very good at letting us know she was pregnant she became very serene from about 1 week after mating. With this bitch she changed when she was pregnant with her first litter, morning sickness less boistrous etc, so when she was mated last time she again got morning sickness etc but it turned out to be a phantom, so hence this is why not sure this time. She is being scanned a week on tuesday so getting very impatient. good luck for your litter I am watching with interest

Now only 4 days to the scan, getting very impatient, she is now only eating the meat from her meals and refusing anything as lowly as complete or biscuit!!! She is very barky and will bark at anything and everything, she is crying like mad if not in the room with us and dosent want to play with our 2 males, one of which is her son. What do you think, I am taking bets pregnant or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- By SharonM Date 07.04.07 08:49 UTC
Sounds pretty convincing, but you also have to remember phantoms are exqually as convincing.

Fingers crossed for you but it does sound as though things are going in the right direction.
- By tudorfield [gb] Date 07.04.07 08:58 UTC
Oh I know how convincing phantoms can be as she had a full blown one last time!!!!!!!!!!! But with the phantom last time she thought she was pregnant from the week after mating, whereas this time she has only just got picky with her food, and this protective barking and crying has only started this week. The scan just cant come soon enough.
- By tudorfield [gb] Date 09.04.07 18:10 UTC
Now 12 hours to the scan, I am beside myself, you would think it was my first litter!!!! dont think will sleep tonight, wish me luck
- By SharonM Date 10.04.07 07:37 UTC
Good luck with the scan, fingers and paws crossed for you!
- By tudorfield [gb] Date 10.04.07 16:48 UTC
Great News, scan revealed at least 5 little pups, so made up, all systems go. Due around 13th May. Obviously the bleeding was normal and not something to worry about, phew
- By GG1 [gb] Date 10.04.07 17:37 UTC
Well Done!  Will keep everything crossed for you and mum to be!
- By SharonM Date 10.04.07 17:44 UTC
Congratulations!
- By tudorfield [gb] Date 10.04.07 20:34 UTC
Thanks for your good wishes, I can see that I am going to get very boring over the next four weeks, but it is 2 years since my last litter and am getting very very broody.
- By tudorfield [gb] Date 14.04.07 17:25 UTC
Now down to 4 weeks to go, she still being a right picky madam with her food, expecting to be treated like royalty. Dog food not worth a look at, but steak, chicken, turkey she will have your fingers off for.  will also drink milk which she usually not at all keen on. Not very happy that she cant charge about with her son and his uncle. She has become the master of the dirty look.
