Has anyone used this food before? Im having trouble getting hold of the Timberwolf my dogs have been getting so am trying to find an alternative...my dogs were doing so well on Timberwolf so I am disappointed that I can't seem to get it, I think my youngest is allergic to many of the grains in even the 'premium' type foods that I have tried from PAH or other pet shops and they seem rather expensive (£38 for a 15kg bag of food thats main ingredient was maize...that would never suit my pup) I like the look of the ingredients in Fish4dogs but wondered if anyone has dealt with the company? Has anyone had it delivered? are they reliable? Don't want to get them started on something else only to have trouble getting hold of it again!

I don't use the complete food (I feed raw) but I regularly order from Fish4Dogs and they have always been quick and reliable.  Delivery is free too ;)  FWIW, the little free samples of the food that they give with every order have gone down well with my dogs as training treats   If I were to go back to feeding a commercial dite, this is definately one I'd consider.

Great, thanks for that! I have just emailed them and asked for a sample for the dogs to try. Do you feed raw shaynlola? Raw...hmmm...something I keep thinking about but would need to do some serious reading and research before I took the plunge. Just out of interest, how much roughly does raw cost in comparison to a good quality kibble? I know this will vary depending on your meat sources, mine would have to be from the butchers in my local market town I guess. I mean I spend about £36 on a 15kg bag of kibble that seems to disappear before my very eyes, and I have to re-order every 2-3weeks (2 medium/large dogs eating it!)

whoops, have just seen you clearly state you feed raw...I need to read things properly!!

Hi :)

If you can find a good supplier, you can feed raw pretty cheaply.  I am the first to admit that I tend to spoil my dogs (I bought them a whole salmon yesterday ) and I could probably feed more cheaply than I do if I cut out the real luxury items.

I buy the basics from a good farm butcher that my family have been buying meat from for 30+ years.  They rear their own livestock and the abbatoir is 4 miles away so I know how and where the animals have lived and been treated ;)  I can buy beef and stewing lamb (inc. lamb ribs/lamb neck) at 50p per lb, ox kidney and liver at 80p/lb and ox hearts at £2 each.  I buy fish from the local market (usually whole mackeral), and chicken wings from Tesco or Asda (try as I might, I can't find them cheaper anywhere else). Recreational bones are plentiful and free  I also throw in slightly more expensive extras like pork ribs (99p/lb) and ox tail (a whopping £1.80/lb so they only get it when I'm feeling flush :p).  The 'reduced to clear' section of supermarkets can be treasure troves for the raw feeder ;) Tripe comes fozen from PAH.

If you are in www.landywoods.co.uk delivery area, they seem to be very competitive price-wise.  I am not in their area, unfortunately.

I guess I probably spend about £50 a month on food for the dogs.  I have a large crossbreed and a giant breed so I suppose that's pretty comparable with feeding a premium complete.

If you are seriously considering raw as an option, I would recommend you read 'Natural Nutrition for Cats & Dogs' by Kymythy Schultz  and/or 'Give Your Dog a Bone' by Ian Billinghurst (both available from Amazon).  The first is a good straightforward read.  The latter, IMO, is a little more diffiult to read but all the information is there :)

Thank you very much shaynlola, infact that was going to be my next question...advice on reading material to get me started if this is what I opt for. Thank you! I had actually previously checked on the Landywoods website and we are out of the delievery area also. We have a butchers that we have gone to for a while and he often gives us little extras for the dogs, like bag fulls of raw marrow bones and other bits and bobs when I pop in, so Im sure I could have a chat about the different meat and bones I would need...hmm...something I really need to think about.

If you email me I can send you a pdf copy of Works Wonders by Tom Lonsdale, it's an interesting and informative introduction to feeding raw :)

Up here in Scotland a bunch of people got together to order a van load of meat/bones from Landywoods. This was the brainwave of one dog lover - and now it takes up all her free time arranging multiple orders every 6 weeks :)
