There must be something wrong with me....I ordered a new, fancy show lead from a friend who makes them in America and after a long, impatient wait it arrived yesterday. I was SO EXCITED! I am sure it is not natural to get this excited about a lead!!! BUT it is so nice...it is soft, soft leather, black, grey, white and tan intertwinned with beads half way down. I spent most of last night cooing over it, OH started to give me some very strange looks and was backing out of the room! can't wait to try it out next Monday at our next show.
Now I really must try and get a life.....

Oh Sarah - LOL!

I had a similar conversation last week - discussing birthday gifts and I said getting some agility bits!  Only a doggy person would ask for doggy things for their birthday! :)

Tried to see you Sunday but by the time you judged think we were long gone!!  Made mental note to remember goldens take 100 hours to judge!! and never arrive too early if second in the ring behind them!  thank goodness we weren't.

Did you have a good entry?

I understand exactly, when I ordered a show lead I was so excited when it arrived :)

And for Jasper's birthday on Thursday - I've bought him an agility kit - I'm sure we will have an 'interesting' and hopefully fun time with it  :D :D :D

Ooooh where did you buy it from? My daughter wants an agility kit for our dogs too

I got it from pet planet online, I haven't opened it yet so not sure how sturdy it is but I'll be able to tell you more on Thursday :D

you will probably get chucked out of your class, declare the lead "unlucky" and never use it agin!!!!  I did that with a jacket once:cool:

Yup I've done this with leads :)  It's a perfectly normal, it's a known but harmless side effect to dog showing syndrome! ;) :D

OK I feel slightly better knowing I am not the only one. There are many other side effects of dogs showing: ability to go without sleep for long periods of time due to drive to Scotland, ability to throw money away on wasted entry fees, ability to forgive dogs for chewing new Louis Vuitton purse when it was only 1 week old:eek: (back in the days when I had money!!!) the list goes on and on!!
As for the lucky/non lucky show item - I gave up on that at the start of the year and have had a good show year so far! I used to not be able to pass a magpie without crossing my fingers etc! now I pretend I haven't seen them. So now a lead is just a lead, albeit, shiney and sparkly!!!
- By MariaC [gb] Date 03.04.07 19:32 UTC
I thought we were supposed to spit when we see a magpie :D :D :D
- By Setters4me [gb] Date 03.04.07 19:50 UTC
I was told as a kid to say Good morning Mr Magpie, cross my fingers until I saw another one!! and felt bad if I didn't do it all!!
- By MariaC [gb] Date 03.04.07 19:56 UTC
I was definitely told to spit - very ladylike (I just make the sound don't actually spit)!
- By Setters4me [gb] Date 03.04.07 20:08 UTC
Maybe that's why I have been having bad luck all these years......!

I salute a solatary magpie, and ask hows the wife and family!!!! No dont show, and never done that before I met my ex, but feel bad if I dont do it as he uised to say that would ward off the bad luck!!!!
Lea :)

Don't know about spitting etc but I do know that when we used to show, every time we saw a lone magpie on the way we got thrown out - got to the stage that i would shut my eyes if we were travelling towards glasgow area just to avoid seeing one (No I wasn't driving :D). Don't see many in fife but there are loads along the M8 for some reason.

And I was taught to say Good morning Mr Magpie, how's your wife and family :D  Still find myself doing it now
