Is it considered legal to buy prescription drugs for your pet from outside of the UK when they have not been prescribed by a vet?
Reading Christine's recent sad story re Bonnie I'm tempted to try Vivitonin for my old girl but I'm unclear whether it is advisable to simply buy it online.
Contra-indications of this medication seem to be only re pregnant / lactating bitches and as she is almost 12 and spayed I cannot see this as relevant

Anyone got any useful advice?  Anyone used it without prescription?

I would not risk buying medicines from abroad and would only buy in the UK from reputable firms.  Many drugs sold in this way are counterfeit which means at the very least a waste of money and at worst dangerous.  Probably wisest to ask the vet to recommend a source if they will.

Looking at the contraindications it does appear kidney function needs to be determined and perhaps monitored.  Drugs are generally perscription only for a reason :)

Will make an appt to see vet.
