Milo my 2yr old JRT went for his weekly blood test today and although his Album (sp) levels have held up on the low side of normal, my vet was very dissapointed to see his blood count was still dropping. It is now down to 33. He said he doesn't want to panic yet but it is concerning.
So he will stay on the treatment for another week and go back to have bloods done again and then decide from there

im sorry its not good news, but theres still plenty of hope, do they have any clue whats wrong with him?

He is very anemic, which means he is losing blood somewhere, but where we are not sure.  He has had a scan which revealed nothing so rather than dive in and open him up and search the vet is working on the assumption because of his food allergies he has an ulcer which is bleeding.  So for the past couple of weeks he has been on Zantac 3 times a day and on 100mg iron tablets twice a day.
He is having weekly blood tests to keep a check on his blood count levels but they are still going down each week at the moment.
If he continues to go down then vet will have no choice but to open him up and see if he can find the cause.
He has been on a meat free diet for a few days so that the vet could have a stool sample this morning to send of for analysis.

I hope you get some good news and it is just an ulcer that will clear up soon. Hugs to Milo.
