Hello All. Well we are now at day 56. Its like a football match is being played in our girls big belly. She has become really restless and is following me around everywhere. She has started to produce milk and has had a clear stringy discharge. Im not sure that she will hang on to day 63 and I am sure that she will have them early. Its all very exciting. She has been sleeping in her whelping box for a few days now. I have started to take her temp twice a day which is a steady 37.7. We are all ready and Im going to work from home for the next two weeks to make sure that I am here to support my girl. Dont worry, there is always somebody at home for after the pups are born. My question is, following all the worry over selecting the stud dog, the romantic one night stand (Well, it happend twice actually!) the waiting for signs of pregnancy, finally realising that she is pregnant............... can anybody tell me how to make the days go faster! We cant wait to see the pitter patter of lots of new feet!
- By lumphy [gb] Date 24.03.07 21:42 UTC
lol

you cant but what you can do is enjoy watching and feeling the pups move in mums tum. I loved that bit and would sit for hours with my hand on my bitches tum. She was very clingy to me when preggy  and it was something special between us.

Enjoy the peace while you can once they arrive you wont have much :o))

Hi Gary,
I do know how you feel, my girl is day 62 today and we are getting inpatient!!!
We have been taking her temp and it is up and down like a yo yo, we are hoping she starts tomorrow her due date!!!
Thinking of you and your Harli let us know how things go,,,,,
- By GG1 [gb] Date 27.03.07 11:56 UTC
Hello All

Just a little update, She is very settled in herself, not wanting to go out for a walk but is quite happy with regular wee breaks then straight back to the house. Today is day 58, pups are very playful in the tummy with lots of movement. It looks like the aliens have invaded!!!  gone off her food and her temp is a steady 99.6 degrees. When would you kind folk recommend that I stay through the night with her, I did last night and will every night unless you think its pointless without the definate signs of iminent birth!
Many Thanks

Sounds as though things are going good, I have been sleeping downstairs with my girl for a few days now, so probably be good idea to sleep there for the next few nights.
My girls temp was 99.5 this morning, so pretty close to yours but I suppose it depends on each dog and breed xx
Good luck and let me know how she gets on xx

Hi how is your girl going? any signs of pups yet??
xx
- By GG1 [gb] Date 29.03.07 12:19 UTC
No signs at all yet! Still waiting but my princess seems happy to be fat at the moment! Still its only day 60 so plenty of time yet. I took your advice and I am sleeping in the same room as her until D-Day!

I was really pleased to read your news, I saw the pics and they look super, I hope that mum and pups are all well. Did she manage to do the work all herself or did you get involved? I will always remember a few years ago I had a small dog that had pups, after a very short labour she screamed and out came puppy number one, rather than break the sack herself she just looked at me as if to say, "Well come on then, I've done my bit now get to work" Well I did what I had to do for this pup and the following three then mum took over again and was one of the best doggie mums I have ever seen! Bless Her.

I will let you know when I have any news but all is quiet on the western front at the mo!

Just a quick question.

I have just given my girl her lunch and instead of just picking at it the way she has the last couple of days, she is intent in hiding it. She is taking it bit by bit to her whelping box and covering it with newspaper. I have never seen this before, has anyone experienced it?
- By SharonM Date 29.03.07 14:04 UTC
My girls always do that just before labour starts, they don't want to eat it now, they hide it for later.
- By GG1 [gb] Date 29.03.07 15:40 UTC
Stop it, Your getting me all excited now. I wont sleep till she has them!!!!!! LOL:cool: I have noticed this afternoon that she is licking her lady bits alot too!
- By Gemini05 Date 29.03.07 15:46 UTC
My girl tried to hide an apple in her whelping box the morning she actually had pups! Normally you give her an apple and she eats it straight away!
This maybe it! Good luck and let us know how she gets on please!

Just a wee update! Still hiding food, started to nest by scratching and tearing up newspaper, Temperature has remained steady at around 99.4. off food then on food, but only in small quantities. Giving milk, glued to her whelping box except for very brief pee pee breaks! Is keeping herself super clean (Although how she reaches with her big belly I will never know!) Pups are kicking like mad in her tum. Today is day 61, I know that it may still go on for a few days yet but will someone please look into their crystal ball and tell me when!!!!!!!!

Ta!
- By Gemini05 Date 30.03.07 18:05 UTC
OOOOOOOOOHHHHH I am getting excited!!!
My girl panted alot, temp was 99.5 on day she delivered and she spent most of the day ripping newspapers up, eating on and off and wanting my company on and off through the day!!!!!!!!!
won't be long now, how exciting!!!
xx

Ok GG1 I have asked my oracle book  .Firstly i asked if pups will arrive on Sunday, got indefinite answer, asked if arriving on Monday, same deal. Then asked if they will be born on Tuesday and the reply was.....

"The answer is YES"

So going by my book they will be born on Tuesday, but dont take it's word for it,still stay close to Mum ;) :D

Ooohh i cant wait to see if the book's right or not. It hasnt steered me wrong in the past though
- By GG1 [gb] Date 01.04.07 08:25 UTC Edited 01.04.07 08:29 UTC
Tuesday would be really nice, thats my birthday!!  What a present that would be! Will let you know the outcome! But thats another three sleepless nights! I suppose that they could arrive in the early hours of Tuesday so thats only two more sleepless night!
- By Harmony Date 01.04.07 08:52 UTC
The "false" start has probably been the pups shifting position getting ready for their entrance to the world :D  I'm sure you won't have long to wait now
- By GG1 [gb] Date 01.04.07 09:38 UTC
Just to let you all know that on taking her temperature this morning it has dropped from 100.2 to 98.9. So maybe this is the sign I've been waiting for!
- By Harmony Date 01.04.07 09:57 UTC
Hopefully pups in the next 24 hours or so then :D  Get some sleep now while you can!!
- By GG1 [gb] Date 01.04.07 16:00 UTC
My wee (Big) girl has just been out to the garden for a wee, after she had done this she darted under a tree which is surrounded by bushes and started digging. I never stopped her as it seems quite natural to me. Is this a sign of the pups are coming or can this be for some time before?

Thanks
- By GG1 [gb] Date 01.04.07 19:04 UTC
Just taken her temp again and its now dropped to 98.4 degrees!
- By Gemini05 Date 01.04.07 19:10 UTC
The hormones the pups are producing give her the feeling to dig so that is great!
And if her temp is dropping its even better!!
Might be a long night for you tonignt!
Good luck cant wait to here good news!!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 01.04.07 19:28 UTC
Ahhh  bless, I've always allowed my girls to dig in the garden, or should I say my parents!!  They always seem to get on with the job in hand once they start this :d  Hope all goes well.  I've got another 3 weeks before I have all this worry again.

Advice Please

My Fab Girl has now had 4 trouble free births. Its three hours since her last one was born. For the last half hour she has been pushing again with no results. She is quite calm in herself looking after her brood.

Hold that thought, I was just going to ask if I should take her for a check up and bingo, Out pops another girl, Breech birth, took a while to get her breathing as she had quite a bit of fluid but she is doing fine now! Phew!
- By GG1 [gb] Date 02.04.07 19:25 UTC
Bit of an update!

Mum and 5 babies are all doing well. Owner is very tired but could not be more proud of his girl. I think that that is it, it has been an amazing day!

Thank you all for your support, good wishes and advice over the last 63 days.
