Ripley was mated on the first season of the year in both 2005 and 2006. This year she's not being mated, she's done her bit. However she doesn't seem to agree. :D She started standing and flagging unusually early (for her), day 6 already. Today we are at day 21 and she is STILL doing it! It's like she's saying "Oh come on, I know you always bring me to a nice stud dog at this season, where is he?" Anyone had a bitch stand for this long, and will it ever stop? Should I worry at all? There's virtually no blood at all now (in fact I haven't seen any today) yet here she is flagging away!

The girls that have had litters can become real tarts and seem happy to stand from the first possible moment to the glorious last :D

Ah so she really IS expecting to ave pups again! :D Oh well, shell have to make do with being aunty to the Golden pup! :D (Who's doing her best at acquiring the black face mask by digging holes and getting her face dirty!)

Ripley you wild thing!! Better watch her Marianne, she'll be down to the town tonight trying to find her own stud ;-)
Hey, I have one of those black faced goldens too! :-D and I've found a successful way to kill ivy.

Hi Goldmali,

I have exactly the same problem with one of my Goldens every season, she is being spayed shortly as she has now retired. The last time I was advised to give her wheatgerm oil and that did seem to help. One of my other bitches flagged at 5 days and went on to have a healthy litter of 10, 2 years later she was mated on day 20 and 22 and had a litter of 8. These girls are funny creatures x

Blimey mated at 22 days -I'm definitely keeping her under lock and key (almost!) for another week or so! I'm planning to have her spayed, just not QUITE yet. She will be 7 next month and I know I am paranoid, but if anything were to happen to the only daughter I have from her, she's still able to have one more litter until she's 8 of course, so am waiting until then just to play safe.

I couldn't quite beleive it myself, kept thinking that we had missed her so couldn't beleive it when she was flagging and they had a good tie. Paranio set in then about deformed pups etc, not being pregnant but they were all healthy. My vets bitches he said all flag around 19 days, he has six HWV. Don't blame you for being paranoid, it has made me like it now when the girls are in season, I keep them out of the way for a month and then only introduce them gradually. These girls are sent to try us I think. I think you are right also to hedge your bets, there would be nothing worse than having your girl speyed only to find out her daughter wasn't able to have pups for whatever reason.
