Topic Dog Boards / General / PETA - petition from America
- By JoFlatcoat (Moderator) [gb] Date 10.09.02 13:02 UTC
I read on another list yesterday that there is a petition in America to review or revoke the tax-exempt status of PETA - an extreme animal rights group. As they have strong links with extreme activists in this country, I think the following link makes interesting reading

PETA vigorously attempts to restrict and ban hunting and their ultimate goal is to abolish all animal ownership of any kind. You may not know that they are showing themselves to be a lot more savvy about politics and activism than in the past, measuring their antics and media access for maximum effect, and they have a huge amount of money.

How about taking a minute of your time to read the petition?
The petition URL is:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/rvkptaex/

I did sign it - whether it holds water with UK signatures is up to them, but I feel strongly that this organisation, which has a lot of money. is behind very many of the less savoury animal rights terrorist activities in this country.

Jo,

Was it ever confirmed that they did give a huge donation to our Labour Party?

Short of asking Tony Blair, I don't know, but it was a story from a reputable source - just can't remember who off the top of my head. It was just when all this anti-countryside/livestock farming/hunting rigmarole started.

I will e-mail the Countryside Alliance and the Farmers Weekly - see if they know.

I agree with the needed review of PETA's tax exempt status.....
But I read through some of the "comments" from other signaturees.... Some are quite rabidly fanatical in their own right  I wonder when or if the IRS will recieve this petition. It doesn't say.

I just visited the "Host site" of the petition. It's hilarious. You want to protest anything, start a petition  Actually, it's quite cute. :) Freedom of Speech 1st Amendment in action :) :) :)

Where do you get that the signers are asked for money? I went through the site earlier and didn't find any scam like that  Just out of curiosity, is there any subject that you're not dedicated to acting cynical and blase?

I signed the one whatsit asked for people to sign and they sent a request to my email for $1.
I might send them $5 instead. Clever scam all the same, I imagine some would send them bread.
