My bitch had her pups on Sunday. I too was up for a couple of nights, but when she started shaking that was when it all started and she had her first pup within 2.30 hours.  Hope all goes well.

She is still panting and seems to be shivering every 10 mins or so, she will not go outside for a wee, staying in her whelping box, she got clear mucus discharge

as long as she comforable and not pushing leave it as she is once she starts pushing and  it go on for more than 2 hours call the vet.

Small poo's are good signs, she's feeling the pressure now, won't be long!

Its now 1.20pm, she has just ate a little for lunch, put her fav foods in but she only had a couple of mouthfuls.
Shes been digging in the garden and then goes back to her whelping box, still panting and has had a very very small soft poo!
I am more relaxed as have just read my bible book (dog book!) and everything she is doing is good signs so shes happy (as best as she can be) and I am happy! x
Goodness knows how animals do this on their own, I remember when I had my two boys I had Gas and Air on tap! and that was only for one baby!

Sounds as though she is building up for a good labour, good luck.

still panting has just been sick temp 99.5 so we are off to the vets to check she is dilating will post when I get back xx

Oh poor girl hope she is okay and it is just first time thing.  Fingers crossed, best to find out mind. 

The fact she has just been sick is another step closer, my girls are always sick just before that first pup arrives......what's the bets she has the first in the car!

I was about to say the same thing lol. I probably would of waited a bit longer rather than going to the vets and stressing them both even more but its not my dog or situation. I have to go out now but will check back in as soon as I get in. Feel like I am involved lol

Hi we are back from the vets!
Everything ok, my girl has started to dilate! No pups in the canal yet so everything looking ok.
Vet seems to think things will start moving in the next 12 hours.

I took her to the vet as we had been adviced by the breeder to make sure things was going along smoothly, I had read my books and everything my girl was doing is what the book says but we just wanted to check instead of leave things and hope that everything was all right.
I will up date you as soon as anything develops!

My girl is doing great, pups are feeding nicely and sleeping!
We are taking them and her to the vets ths afternoon, for check ups and to have dew claws removed, something I am not looking forward too.

By the way, I have just spent 36 quid for the vet to tell me she is dilating is this something I could do? How do you do it!?

You need someone to demonstrate and show you. :)

At last!!! Congratulations!

Hi everyone thank you so much for your emails!
I have finally pulled myself away from the pups! OH is sitting with mum and pups, final count is       6!
4 boys and 2 girls!!!  After the 5th pup was born at 2.10am we thought that was it as she stopped panting and went to sleep then at 6.15am this morning she delivered the 6th pup!!

We are so overwhelmed! have not slept since Monday night should be sleeping now as OH here but just so excited!
Thanks to everyone that gave me advice and support it has help alot and if you PM me I will direct you to the pics of the Pups!

Hi Again another update for you!

My girl is extremely good with her pups, feeding them, turning over and letting them feed again, washing, counting them!
Its been hard to keep family and friends at bay, as they are all crying out to see the pups but my girl is still a bit protective if even my hubby goes in her room so want to wait until she feels happier.

Pups are doing great, all content with feeding then sleeping, had to rush out and buy some more vetbed though! did not think to buy more then two!!

I have got my eye on one of the boy pups all ready! would love to keep all of them but have a waiting list as long as my arm, dreading how I tell people there is not enough to go around! but its one of those things I guess.

Off now for a hot bath and relax my bones, was on my knees most of the night seeing to newborn pups, maybe I will get some sleep soon!
