Thanks for the encourage mentS/E :)
but she`s into her final days :(
Tomorrow 12 pm ish we`ll have our last little chat :(((((((

I'm so sorry. :( I went through the same with Clover, and it's not easy, but it's the last great kindness you can give to your old friend. I'll be thinking of you.

So sorry to hear this, she's a lucky girl to have been so loved and so well looked after, and to be let go with dignity to wait at the bridge. My thoughts are with you today xx

really sorry to hear that Bonnie hasn't stabilised. I really hoped it would be something simple. Thinking about you just now.

Read with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. :( I could almost have been reading about my old girl although she just about manages to keep upright despite an increasingly wobbly back end. She'll be 12 in October but I have serious doubts she'll see the Spring through let alone Autumn :( :(
Christine.......(((((((((((((the biggest and gentlest of hugs)))))))))))) to you for bravely sharing your feelings online. Mine mostly make me want to run away and pretend its not happening but I know in my heart that isn't a fair way to handle the situation and our beautiful friends deserve the very best we can give them - from start to finish.
Sleep tight dear Bonnie x

Although I don't know you Christine, I have been following your post about Bonnie with such concern & hope. I'm so sorry to hear your news. It's so easy to say be brave, because we all love our dogs so so much. What a wonderful life Bonnie has had with you as her Mum and still caring for her in her old age. My thoughts are with you Christine.

As someone said to me "rather a day early than a day too late"
Cyber {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} to you all

I'm so sorry Christine, I know you will not have made this decision without a great deal of agonising. She could not ask for a more loving owner.

((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) You were lucky to have known each other, lucky to have loved each other, and she was so lucky to have someone like you as her human mum. Fate bought you together, and now its time for the saddest time. You have time to tell her how much you care, time to be quietly together. Now its her time to walk to the light, she has you there for the final stage of the journey. They just don't live long enough. My thoughts are with you. xxxxxx

Oh Christine I'm so so sorry for poor Bonnie :(
Someone else has said it - better a little early than a day late, Bonnie trusts you to make this final decison for her, she can't ever have wished for a better home than the one you have given to her. Tell her how much you love her Christine and how special she is.
Sending hugs and love to you all - I think everyone of us on here understands what you are going through.

Just come back, and logged on, hoping to see some news that Bonnie had stabilised. I'm so sorry. Its the heartbreak of having our beloved dogs, knowing that their life span is not our life span. But you, Bern and Bonnie have been priviledged to have had each other - she has known such love, and repaid it with devotion. She will never die whilst your memories of her are kept in your heart.
{{Hugs}} to you all - its such a hard thing to do, this last act of love.
Margot xx

So sorry to hear this Christine. I've been following this thread, and was so pleased to hear she had perked up, and so sad to hear that it was only to be for a short time.
As hard as it must be, take comfort in the knowledge that Bonnie has had a lovely long life with you, and sometimes the right thing to do is also the hardest.
Sending (((hugs))) to you.
Claire

Like H/loon been following this thread.
so sorry Christine - you are letting her go with her dignity intact in the knowledge that you are not prolonging her suffering in any way - although it is never an easy decision to come to. She has had a full happy life with you as her friend.
Huge Hugs to you

So sorry Christine, you're giving the greatest gift of love but it doesn't ever feel like it does it. :( You're in my thoughts.

Thinking of you x
Thanks for all the kind words folks, they really are very much appreciated.
Just to bring this thread to conclusion I`ll explain a bit more.
Bonnie didn`t have what I first thought were weak legs, she was collapsing cos she didn`t have any strength, her body was weak. The acute anaemia was caused by, almost certainly, an abdominal tumour. The vets as certain as he can be & because of her age we weren`t going to do further investigations. Her blood results, pale gums & collapsing are the classic symptoms. In these past couple of days you could see her abdomin looking larger & a pendular shape.
Her heart was strong, her kidneys were fine but there was blood in her stools & they were very dark.
Her appetite was excellent to the very last & she was in no pain which I`m very grateful for :)
