I have a 15 week chocolate gog, his nose is dark brown in most places but still a little pink in the middle, i have him on elderberry and nettle which seems to be helping and it is coming in more and more, but i know you are not allowed to cover it for shows but i would however like to cover it for training class until it comes in or until i decide that it isnt going to come in!!  I have tried allsorts of things and no luck yet as he licks it off, even when dry!!  Any help would be great!!  Or any ideas how to help the pigment!

Thanks
Rachel.

Beta Carotene.  Olewo canine is the best I've found.  It comes in a pellet form and you put it in a mug with a little vegetable oil and fill the mug up with warm water.  Within an hour it goes like a paste.  Just add it to dogs food.

Just leave it, it will fill in soon enough most likely.  I wouldn't go covering his nose up at all, it's not worth it, why do it for training classes?

If you really want to cover it up go and speak to gordon at hub international

If he has had good pigment and lost it and you keep up with the elderberry and nettle it will return but it is a slow process can take more than 6m -1yr as my girls did but it came back eventually .She does lose it slightly  when she is due a season :)

I usually use seaweed kelp in the winter and elderberry and nettle during the summer months .

thanks everyone!!
I wanted to cover it for training class as there is another person there who owns same breed and she has a big mouth and everyone would know about his nose, then when it does come to showing him(if the pigment comes in) he would get highly knocked!!

If the pigment comes in he won't be knocked!

However if you cover it up and it never comes in she will have something to shout about....

i wont show him if it doesnt come in, i would just i wasnt sure about him and changed my  mind.  There hasnt been a chocolate shown in my breed for the past 10 years as people see them as a fault, although they are not!!  So i want to make sure he is stunning first anyway!

But she can shout how you had coverd up a dogs nose?  This may get you a bad reputation with the other dogs you show.

Sorry just don't want this to all blow up in your face :)

Sorry but you are going to have hard enough work showing  I presume an "undesirable" colour, why on earth would you want to cover up another fault?

One of my Spanish is brown and white and she had a huge pink lack of pigmentation she's now 20 months and it has almost cleared with only a tiny spot of pink inside her nostril.  I believe in Springers it can take a number of years for the pigment to totally come through!
