Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Berriewoods Frozen Meats, and other things....

Hello,

A few random comments and questions I'm afraid to do with food...

Firstly I just wondered if anyone used Berriewoods frozen meats for their dogs.
I currently buy Prize Choice but apparently the Berriewood range is made by AMP. It would be much easier for me to use as I could order everything (naturesdiet, frozen meat and dry food - Arden Grange - same price as breeders bags direct from AG). I am in their delivery area so it would make life easier for me, and avoid expensive trips to PAH where I feel the need to buy more toys!

I've switched from Timberwolf to Arden Grange as getting hold of Timberwolf was becoming very difficult as Zooplus are out of stock. I'm giving them (greyhounds) the large breed adult and they love it and seem to be looking very good on it - the kibble size is about the same as a 50 pence piece in diameter so they have a good chew and crunch if I add a few in dry. I add in wet food or meat for the main meal and Keepers Mix from Dorwest who assure me that it is safe for a hypothyroid dog (see below) and doesn't cause overheating. No added oils at the moment - I was adding EP and FBO but worried about screwing up their pancreases. I was thinking about garlic and fengugreek (sp.?) though...

My eldest hound though (10 years) has a recurring staph skin infection so he is on a food trial of only AG and nothing else - no treats or anything - or any of the rubbish sausage rolls OH feeds him:rolleyes:!

Ebony, who I was having problems with his coat and baldness was investigated for hypothyroidism and cushings. Fortunately the cushings was OK but after free T4, TSH, etc he is hypothyroid so is on soloxine - coat starting to grow back already:cool:

Also does anyone use Naturezyme to add to their dogs food or any other probiotics/digestive enzymes?

Thanks:cool:

Hi,

I think Prize Choice/Amp are actually the same company :P Not 100% sure, but I think so! Sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong..

I used to use Naturezyme, but I have a Dobe and the amount recommended for a dog his weight (45kg) meant we were going through loads of the stuff, and it turned out pretty expensive. The main reason I actually stopped though is because they were out of stock for a long while. I didn't notice any difference in him (poos, gaseous emissions etc :D) so never did get any more.

I have just started him on mixed veg tablets from Dorwest Herbs as they are meant to be good for skin conditions. It's recommended that you give them in conjunction with the garlic and fengugreek tablets you mentioned, which are meant to help to clear skin infection.
