Well my gas oven is definately dead and it would cost so much to repair that we've decided it's not worth it :( (as much as we paid for the cooker and 10+ years ago)  Soooo..  We're looking at new gas cookers :) :)
We both like the smaller range cookers as I do quite a bit of cooking (OK a lot!) and I'm considering a 90 cm one    But which do I buy??   I prefer the more traditional look so I'm leaning that way, but some of the ranges have a GLASS LID!!  I've never liked the idea of this as I feel it's just something that will get broken easily, but is this the case?? 

Anyone have any experience here??  and what about makers??   I really like the Rangemasters but are they worth the money??

Any answers and opinions appreciated here as it's a HUGE amount of money to spend think how manyshows I could go to )

Also I'm not averse to second hand/reconditioned etc but where to find one in Wales? :rolleyes:  - not sure I want to spend that much on ebay all at once LOL

Well I have a rangemaster and you say you do lots of cooking so you will get your moneys worth out of it.  I don't it's an expensive ornament for me.  The glass lid isn't a problem very sturdy just wipe lid over with a damp cloth and polish clean with a tea-towel will always look nice.  Two ovens, griddle, warming plate, grill well worth it for lots of cooking and mine is all gas.  Hope you get what you want.

Hi Dill, My sister has a Rangemaster and she loves it.  She got over the problem of worrying about the glass lid by having a top made for it in black (her Rangemaster is the black model) and it looks great.  As to where to buy a second hand one, have you looked in Ad Trader?

I have a Rangemaster duel fuel and got it without the glass cover for the same reason.

How on earth do I get one without the glass lid if it's supposed to come with a glass lid??  Do I just choose a gas one without a lid or can the lids be removed??

I have the classic 110 Noir, it just came without the lid. It wasn't a special order; just bought it online. It's gas hobs and electric ovens.

Thanks for that, I think I'll try and actually see/touch one of them before ordering online,  or maybe I can find one refurbished :p  Now all I have to do is find time to go 'shopping' :rolleyes:

OH is worried about getting one thru the front porch (back way isn't possible )  I don't care how it gets into the house as long as I get what I want this time ;) :D :D

I have a Belling Range type cooker - inherited it with the house - it's dual fuel - has two ovens, a grill, a warming plate, a warming oven and NO glass lid. It's very traditional looking although if I had the moeny I'd go for an AGA or Rayburn and run the central heating off it as well.

If only it were that simple :rolleyes: In the porch the front door and the door to the living room are at right angles so we'd have to turn the cooker to get it in the person who built it was an idiot and OH never got round to changing it :rolleyes:  it isn't normally a problem except for getting pianos and BIG cookers in and out :D :D
I really llike the idea of a really big doggy door but that's out of the question as the cooker wouldn't get thru the workshop in the garden (have to go thru that to get to the back lane :rolleyes: )

Don't worry, I'll get it in somehow - even if I have to take the front window out :D :D

I'm off tomorrow to look (and touch ;) ) some ranges I hope, then I'll decide which I like best :D :D I've got some hankies to wipe the drool away ;)
