hi wondered if any one can help for my freind she as no access to intrnet her toy dog come in season on 21st feb she had 3 successful matings with her proven stud dog on hr 10th day which was 3rd march 5th 7th, her girl is eating drinking playing good health any way she noticed a dark discharge from her today no smell to it and she seems great in her self is this normal? my friend as to take her cat to the vets tomorrow should she take her dog to be on the safe side or as she got nothing to worry about thanks

Personally, rather than asking a friend to post on the intenet, if I were worried about one of my dogs, I would go to the vet's.

She may, or may not, have something to worry about - but it is not the place for an internet forum to tell her yes or no.

I wouldn't take any chances of waiting for a reply, get her to the vet asap, she may have an infection or it could be the tail end of her season, but I wouldn't wait.  If it is a slight infection a course of AB's should help, but delaying getting her to the vet is putting both mum and litter at risk.

Good luck.

Glad that she's going, but don't let her panic too much.   A  slight dark red but 'normal' discharge 15 days after mating can be the sign of a successful pregnancy.

But she should still check  it out with the vet.

hi my freinds dog was ok she had 1 puppy early hours this morning everything ok she just wondered with there only being one baby and all these teets will mum be ok with so much milk and not as much milk being used thanks

I had a singleton pup and mum coped fine. The milk will adapt itself to how much is being used. In no way try to relieve the bitch by milking her, she will only make more milk, causing more problems  I found that my bitch fed the pup, cleaned her, then gave her to me to care for ;) It was very much a case of you wanted it, you can have it :D Just keep a close eye on her (or tell your friend to :) )

Also make sure your friend makes sure the pup suckles on all the teats :)

She's actually 8 weeks in whelp (not 15 days:confused:) a dark discharge is not normal {unless she is going into labour}.
I'd get the vet to check her over.

Whoops - edit to add - just noticed she's had a puppy.
