Both my bitches bled well past the few days that seems to be quoted as the norm. Like your girl it went on for weeks. They never seemed to have any problems with it and the vet confirmed they were OK so I just let nature take its course. As long as it doesn't start smelling I wouldn't worry too much.

my girl bled longer too. I think she might have had a mild tear in her lining that took longer to heal up. I had taken her to the vet and they found nothing wrong with her. Time was all it took to heal.

One of our Kerries (years ago) bled for quite a while, and it worried me. Son (vet) said it was a sub-involution of the placental membranes. Still don't really know what that means.

It cleared up eventually all by itself.

Don't worry unless it's profuse and smells bad.

My second oldest bitch bled much longer with both her first two litters, as she was spayed in conjunction with a cesearean with her third she obviously didn't the last time. Her Mum and daughter only bled for the first week, so like with Humanns we are all different.

If she was a Dobe and still losing fresh blood I would begin to suspect von Willebrands Disease. Are there any bleeding disorders associated with Boxers?

I have had bitches bleed for a few weeks but it was normally getting dark and clotted rather than fresh.

Might be worth just mentioning it to your vet again and see what they think.

For what it may be worth, but my theory is , the larger the litter, the longer it takes to heal as there are more placenta attachments.Hope that makes possible sense!!!!!!Gail

makes great sense and I agree!
