I haven't a clue how to spell it but it seems Flynn has it.  He was very poorly a couple of weeks ago but is now as right as rain.  The vet confirmed today that he has compilabacta and has to have a week of antibiotics and then in three weeks he has to have a sample taken to see if he is clear from it. Does anyone have any experience of this?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :(

If you look up campylobacter there is lots of information on the net but the vet should be able to answer all your questions.

I have been looking after a dog that has this for the past few months, so if you want to send me a pm I will try and answer any of your questions

Hope your dog is clear and well soon. Its always good to have time to sit and read about a condition, the net is a wonderful tool, saves loads of space that the good old vet books take up :). And the added bonus of talking to those who have experienced the same too.

I wonder how any of us from back in the 50's-60's, with little processed food for us or the dogs, just about everything we and they ate was fresh meat, veg and fish, and none of the heavy duty bug killing household sprays, ever managed to survive the bugs that seem to be everywhere today.

I know of a friends dog that had a really bad case of it, the vet finally cleared it up by giving daily small doses of panacur over a period of 3 weeks. It is a protozoa and has also been proven to be picked up in floodwater areas along with other things.

I came back from Tokyo with a bad case of it some six years ago ....took masses of antibiotics before I tested clear (don't ask:rolleyes:) and had two visits from the local Health Dept - first to see where I might have contracted it, and the second (about 6 weeks later) to check that I had infected no-one else!

It was very debilitating - I would think that I was over it and it would return in full force!
