Evening all, I've been buying raw frozen mince for my woofers, they love the chicken one, the lamb and the rabbit, but just as I was buying some today I noticed in capitals along the side of the rabbit ones said "FOR WORKING DOGS ONLY" Just wondered why this was really?

Could it be because that makes it VAT Free? 

Because they can afford it?.....working...wage packet... regular income income.???? Ah phooey, who knows?

Yep, it's the VAT free - same with complete working dog foods :)

Yes like others have said it is because of it being VAT free. PET food has VAT added, but animals that are NOT pets do not. Eg. guinea pig food will have VAT added as they are only kept as pets but rabbit food does NOT, it is VAT free, because rabbits you can kill and eat. Sounds silly but it's true -I buy all my pet food from a wholesaler where VAT is only added at the checkout so you clearly see there what has VAT added and what does not.

OOOHHH! I see! I was thinking it must contain something to help stamina and allsorts - Doh! Oh my boys will be pleased because they love that one. I've been feeding it on its own, defrosted - do you think I should add some sort of mixer? They have a couple of raw chicken wings each almost everyday too.

If they are only having tripe and chicken wings they will benefit from some mixer  added to their food.
