Hiya, just wandering how all the other pregnant Cders are doing. I'm almost 20 weeks gone now, don't post alot (tend to lurk!) but enjoyed the last post on how you were all doing so thought i'd start a fresh one! This is my second time around, first one a breeze but this one alot 'achier', but all good so far

Hello erin :-)  I was 30 weeks yesterday!  Feel like I've been pregnant 9 years so far!  Finding it hard to keep up now with work, kids, dogs and house but I think I'm going to stop working at the end of this month- only trouble is though I know I'll end up doing just as much at home between the house (there are a million and one things that want finishing off) and the dogs.  I've just had the midwife out and she predicts that I'll have him at 38 weeks :-D  This has cheered me up :-)

So if you're 20 weeks have you had your 20 wk scan yet?  Do you know the sex of your baby or are you keeping it as a surprise?

Hi Stacey, my 20 week scan is a week tomorrow, can't wait! We won't be told the sex, not an option in our area, though we quite like the whole surprise aspect. Though my mum reckons its a boy, last time i couldn't stand coffe but this time i can't get enough of it (decaf of course!), plus i'm showing alot sooner but we'll have to wait and see. This time seems so slow though, last one was a bit of a surprise when i went for my dating scan we thought i was around the 10 week mark, turned out to be 16 weeks and hadn't had any tests so it was all rush rush rush
It was funny with the dating scan this time as i was spot on 11 weeks, the sonographer had to point out what was the baby, last time it was a definate 'baby' this time more a blob :rolleyes: I was 2 weeks late as well last time, fingers crossed that won't be the case with this one!

Hiya, I'm 21 weeks today and boy have they been a slow 21 weeks!  We don't get a 20 week scan here (Glasgow), although I'd have loved one.  I still don't feel any different really, tired and bigger, but no different.

I didn't feel at all pregnant till last week, i'm lucky i don't get morning sickness just a bit of nausia. Last week though it seemed to just hit me, i've got a back condition which seems to be be aggravated at the mo and general aches and pains which are making me take it easy when it comes to walking etc, i try to get out as much i can with my 2 (nearly3) year old daughter but really finding i have to take it steady otherwise i suffer in the evening. Midwife says its cos all my muscles and that have done it before so they're looser this time, if thats the case this is definately the last one

Simone- regarding you not having a 20 week scan up there- how do they test for abnormalities etc?  Essentially that's what the 20 week scan is for down here- the 13 week scan is just a dating scan but the 20 week one's for various health checks :-)

Hi Stacey, they do various blood tests (downs and other health things I think) at twelve weeks or thereabouts and spina bifida at sixteen weeks.  When I had my twelve week scan I got a neuro scan thing where they measure the chord at the back of the neck (I had to request this) as the thickness or something like that can be an indicator of downs.

I know what you mean- we get the bloods taken too :-)  That must be more of a national thing then rather than just down to your area :-)

Have you started buying anything yet then?

I'm waiting till the 20 week scan before i buy anything, bit superstitious :rolleyes: We've got most of the big things from last time, but i had a bit of a mad clear out clothes wise cos i was very much 'never again!' after the birth, then changed our minds 2 years later. Are you sorted, being so much further on? Is this your first, if so you'll probably get loads given to you anyway, we had so many clothes that were either worn once or not at all, especially as she was an april baby she spent most of the summer in just a vest!

No, I haven't bought anything yet.  I've never been superstitious before, but seem to be now lol!  I've been advised to give myself plenty of time ordering the pram, as that can take a while to come in.  Might do that in a months time or thereabouts.

What's the norm to do re buying things?  I don't have a clue where to start!

I did a lot of research on the internet, looked at reviews price comparisons etc and just really shopped around. I did find that ebay wasn't always the cheaper option, especially when you took into account the cost of postage. I'll dig out some of the websites i used and PM them to you (probably on friday, won't be back at work till then!). The important things were a crib for beside the bed (phoebe was in with us till 5 months) but i also had a moses basket for downstairs, saved lugging it up and down the stairs. A lot of the stuff we got was a waste of money to be honest, very little use out of baby bath as she came in with me in big bath, baby monitor was a waste cos our house is so small you could hear her from any location :rolleyes: I could not lived without muslins though, great burp cloths, mopping up various 'stuff', she still uses them as comforters (trying to wean her off that one!)

Oooh hello, not been on CD for a while. Glad everyone seems ok. Im 35 weeks now, im so fed up i just want her out lol. I think she has dropped today because ive been having lots of down below shooting pains and did a bump photo and compared it to last weeks and my bump has dropped so im getting some progress lol. Had to have a GTT (glucose tolerance test) the other week as i had sugar in my wee and baby seems big but it was clear. Just waiting now :rolleyes:

Oooh Michelle, 35 weeks seems so far away for me at the moment!  How exciting!!!  I can't remember, is this your first?  Everything about pregnancy seems to be one big long waiting game, doesn't it?  I'm sure once the baby arrives there will be no time to wait for anything lol!

Hi earl, shes my 2nd, I already have a 10 year old boy, big age gap i know lol. Its like im doing it all again for the first time though because its been so long. Its getting so hard now to even walk around the Asda doing the shopping, i make sure OH lets me stroll with the trolley so i can bend over the handle to ease my back lol. But I make him push it when its full :D

Hi Michelle, so wish i was at the 35 week stage time really seems to be dragging at the mo, i've been getting really bad sciatica this week which isn't helping. I Think if its no better by monday it'll be a trip to the docs, which'll probably be a waste of time, the usual, its pregnancy take paracetamol :rolleyes: I too use the pushing trolley/buggy method to ease the back, though my little girl is now insisting she walks everywhere so looks like the buggy will be going away until after the birth!
