Why don't you try a book of your breed, very often they have a breeding section. Also look at The Book of the bitch, which I think may well come in very useful for you. The whelping and rearing of puppies another good one, you can get them from Amazon

The bitch's breeder, or another experienced breeder in your breed would be the best person to contact for advice and support.

Can I ask why your girl does not just go to your vet for a check up, your vet will most definitely be able to tell now whether or not she is in whelp.

All bitches are different, some show early, some hardly show at all, pups are great at hiding, soa  photo of another bitch may not really help, as Val has advised if your girls breeder is local enough, she should be able to tell by feeling her whether she has pups, but your most acurate bet is your vet. :-)

I have to agree.

Unusually (and never again) I ahd two bitches preganant at the same time with just 3 days between being mated and four days difference in whelpign dates.

On was the mother of the other and was huge.  At 7 weeks I was almost convinced her daughter had absorbed most of her litter and might only have one or two, as she was not very pregnant looking and the qaverage person woudl not ahve realised.

By 9 weeks she had a tummy like a Gym slip mum.

Mum produced a litter of 7 largeish pups (had alot of water too).  Daughter whelped 8 average size pups (not much water), though we lost one.

My Vet confirmed preganancy by palpation at 28 days and 25 days respectively.

I was on the understanding that if a clear discharge is seen from 4 weeks then that was a sure sign of pregnancy. it shouldnt be too long though before they can felt fluttering/moving inside, you have to be patient though and do when your bitch is resting.
