Topic Other Boards / Foo / Postage Boxes? Royal Mail
- By Haraz [gb] Date 12.03.07 15:38 UTC
I've been sent presents before by family in Scotland in a box by Royal Mail but I just wondered has anyone ever done this themselves and how much on average did it cost please? I may need to send something up to Lancashire but Not sure how to send them

Thanks In advance :)

Price will depend on size and weight, also whether you want it signed for, recorded, next day or parcel post, and if the item is valuable whether or not you want it insured!
Even more confused now ?

Just shove them in a box and seal it up, stick address on and take it to Post Office, they'll sort it :) I've only every sent small parcels, but big ones are the same sort of thing. I think you can find other courier companies for parcels that may be cheaper, but I've only ever used the GPO :) My mother sent me a rucksack (of a large LARGE variety) via them once so it must work :)

Any kind of box that whatever you want to send will fit into! Make sure the contents don't rattle about in the box and get damaged (scrunched up newspaper makes good padding), tape it up, wrap it in brown paper and thoroughly tape it again, put an address label on it and your address on the back and take it to the post office. :)
