I really really hope these results come back today, then they know what they are dealing with. it always seems such a long time, but I suppose these things can't be rushed. My thoughts are with you, and I'm pleased there seems an improvement with the older one.
- By Lori Date 02.03.07 16:15 UTC
How heartbreaking this must all be for you. Just sending some hugs and healing thoughts both your dogs. We'll keep everything crossed for the little guy.

Hi Westielover, Only just read this post, poor you and poor little him. :( I'm glad at least your older boy has brightened up, and fingers crossed for your little man too. Terry xx

Hope your boy is up and at it soon.

I noticed that you bought your pup from South Wales and it seems as though the Breeder wasn't all that he should be. If you wanted to contact adogslife@ntlworld.com it's entirely possible that they may already know something about this breeder.  It's basically a anti-puppy farming - unethical breeder campaign and have been collating huge amounts of information on both in Wales.  I know that right now is not probably the best time because you've got much bigger things on your mind but give it some thought.

Note to Admin:  Hope that it's alright for me to add that email address, just thought it might be relevant under these circumstances.  Apologies if needed.

Westie Lover have pmd you
- By Floradora [gb] Date 03.03.07 21:42 UTC
Hi westie Lover, tried to edit last post to say that on pm are further details which may be of help to you if your dog was from an unscrupulous breeder.
- By Teri Date 08.03.07 10:36 UTC
Hi westielover2 - just been reading this saga and sincerely hope your little one is recovering.  I see that more than a few members are very concerned for you so hope that you're able to update with a positive outcome soon.

best wishes, Teri

- By westielover2 [gb] Date 08.03.07 10:49 UTC
Not good news I'm afraid!!! In fact I'm devastated. Pup seemed really good on Saturday was up eating bright as can be they even said I may bring him home! However sunday am he vomited and passed a tar black poo. He was then treated for an ulcer. Monday he again perked up was so pleased and then his stomach bloated on wednesday. After an xray they thought it was gas he perked up a little but still wouldn't eat. Yesterday he died in the vets arm of a bowel rupture caused by what he'd been through and also by the fact he has  had loads of worms and hadn't been wormed properly. Am so so gutted.
I will go after the breeder, I am about to contact the lady who pm'd me with the phone number.
A thought for the future any advice please for when I get another westie, breeders etc.
- By Teri Date 08.03.07 10:55 UTC
I'm very sorry :( :( :(  At least the little one is free from pain now.

I'm so very sorry he didn't make it - he put up a good fight but it just wasn't meant to be.
So heartbreaking for you.
- By munrogirl76 Date 08.03.07 11:19 UTC
So sorry to hear your news :( RIP little one.
- By MariaC [gb] Date 08.03.07 11:30 UTC
I'm so sorry both for the puppy and for you :( :( :(
At least now he is out of pain and you know you did everything possible for him.

I don't really know what else to say other than everyone on here knows what you are going through.  They are such special little treasures and whether you have them for 1 day, 10 days or 10 years it still hurts like hell when they leave us.

Run free little one xxx

I am really really sorry to hear about your little boy. I wish you well with whatever you manage to achieve regarding the breeder. I am sure there will be westie people in here later who can direct you towards a good place to buy a puppy, I would imagne a breed club member would be the way forward, I'm just hoping this awful breeder is not a member. Brings the whole thing into disrepute. Is your older westie OK?
- By Annie ns Date 08.03.07 11:33 UTC
I'm so sorry to hear this sad news :( :(.

So sorry to hear this news, you must have had a dreadful time, particularly as he appeared to be picking up.

Very sad news. :(

I'm so sorry you little boy didn't make it. He isn't suffering anymore and you did as much as you could for him. My thoughts are with you and I hope things go your way with the breeder. What a terrible waste of a young life. Big hugs to you.
- By westielover2 [gb] Date 08.03.07 13:22 UTC
Have just seen said "breeder" on this site advertising herself as a breeder for a different type of dog!!!! Also found out a little more about this person and sheis not licensed as a breeder. Thanks to a wonderful person on this forum I shall take this all the way!
Gutted for my little doggy though
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 08.03.07 13:26 UTC

>sheis not licensed as a breeder.

Please don't think that being licensed equates to being reputable.  Licences are granted by the breeders local council for the more commercial breeders (5 or more litters per year) and have nothing to do with the KC.

So sorry your puppy didn't make it. :(
- By cooperscrossing [gb] Date 10.03.07 17:32 UTC
So very sorry to hear this awful news and I wish you the very best in your endeavours against the breeder - these "people" must be bought to account not only on behalf of your pup but for the sake of the future puppies as well.

Very best
- By tenaciousT Date 08.03.07 13:50 UTC Edited 08.03.07 14:49 UTC
Wendy please accept my condolences on the loss of your puppy.  I have been logging in regularly for any news on his condition and all I can say is that I am genuinely saddened by his death.
I hope that you can get some redress from the incompetent breeder.

As for the future you may want to consider another rescue/second home westie as so many are being breed that new homes are being regularly sought.  The westie I got was very young and he's a good dog.

- By calmstorm Date 08.03.07 14:50 UTC
Westielover, to take any action against the breeder you will need the vets medical certificate for the puppy, regarding the first health check, how his health was when first presented to them, at what stage his health declined, and his official cause of death. Also what medication he received, and when. You will need medical evidence to back up your complaint. Any advertising of him (how you came across him) would be useful.
- By Moonmaiden Date 08.03.07 17:28 UTC
So sorry he didn't make it He will be running free at the Bridge now with no pain

I am so sorry to hear I was in hope and praying little one would pull through.

You will go through a hard battle to prosecute the breeder it has taken me a long time and It has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride but it has been well worth it to watch that horrid person squirm and lose his license, stay strong and fight all the way.

I am really so sorry at this sad news. Please leave no stone unturned in going after this 'breeder', she wants stopping from causing such heartache and for not looking after this puppy whilst in her keeping.

So sad, you did everything you could for this poor baby, more than can be said for a breeder who can't even be bothered to worm properly.
sending cyber hugs to you

Westie Lover, I am so, so, sorry to hear about your little boy, you did everything concievably possible for him and I am gutted that he died.

Big Hugs to you and all the best for the future.
- By marguerite [gb] Date 11.03.07 22:06 UTC
Oh !!! Wendy, I am sitting  here in tears, been away for the w/e and just got back, so, so sorry,  this "type " of breeder are the ones I loathe, they give the rest of us such a bad name, by not taking care of their dogs and puppies.   Re:: Licenced breeder, I am not licenced as I dont have enough dogs to have a licence
.
I would take this all the way and hopefully you can prosecute, imagine not worming properly.

If you are ever looking for another pup, please go through the breed clubs or Blue or myself, as even in the breed their are some breeders who seem respectable but are not, and we know where a lot of them are, ones I am talking about are the breeders who have a main breed (i.e. not westie),  are respected in that breed and can also be judges, but they breed other breeds that have no "good lines" or care for the "other breeds" they have, we all have them in our different breeds.  I hope you understand what I am trying to say. Be very carefull.

(((((((Hugs))))))) to you all.  Hope your other westie is doing well.
