Hi Carolann, here is a link for you but bear in mind that causing intentional vomiting is not always wise.

Depending on the circumstances it can have an adverse affect so if in any doubt at all, speak to your vet first.

regards, Teri

I needed to do this recently and didn't have much luck. I initialy tried salt water, several times, then called the vet who suggested mustard in water. That didn't work either, so I had to get my bitch to the vet surgery and she was given two doses of Apomorph, that did the trick.

By the way my Jasmine had swallowed a hair scrunchie. When it re appeared the vet asked me if I wanted it back.

Best to phone your vet for advice, as it depends on what the dog has swallowed - and when. He may suggest a lump of washing soda (sodium carbonate, not bicarbonate ;)) doesn't work - and it never has with mine -  the vet has some much more effective treatments at his disposal.

I was told by my vet washing soda also when Sully swallowed a tablet i had dropped, i only gave her a tiny bit and she was sick straight away.

had him down to the vets, but after putting him in the van and when we got out vet is about 20 mins away, he had thrown up there was huge chunks of rubber ball, where from i do not know, so the vet gave him an injection to settle his tummy and help with the pain and said to keep him quite and just to let him drink, he is back at the vets tomorrow, but before i put him in the van i syringed two 10mls salt water in his mouth  so i think the combination of both van movement etc helped him vomit,
he does not look at all happy at the moment he is in his cage and just can't be bothered with anything or any one and that is not like my physco sid as we tend to call him .

The best way to make a dog sick in my experience is to take for a long walk where there are loads of rabbits.  Return home to prepare for dinner party.  Spend rest of the day cooking, cleaning house, etc.  Greet guests, pass aperitifs, engage in social chat.  Seat guests at immaculately laid table, serve food you've lovingly prepared.  Wait until guests are half way through first course......then dog vomits rotting regurgitated rabbit on carpet in full view of dining table!

buying a new carpet also does the trick- guaranteed to make the dog vomit!

just to make you all know, whizz is very poorly, was back at the vets today, and they have given him a dose of antibiotics and he is poorly, they have booked him in for a x ray tomorrow morning i have to be there by 8.30  with him, they can not feel anything in his stomach etc, but they said he has really blood shot eyes and he is just hanging his head, he is not cocking his leg to wee ,squating like a bitch and he looks in so much pain when walking or peeing he is not even wagging his tail, please keep everything crossed for him for tomorrow, he has not eaten since i first posted, and he is drinking, i just want my nutty boy to be back to being naughty and rounding every one up,

Just sending my very best wishes for a speedy recovery, and keeping fingers crossed for you.x

Sorry to hear that Carolann - from what you've said before, it sounds like some of the ball could still be inside even if it isn't obvious.  Hope everything goes well tomorrow and he is soon fit and well again.

Good luck Carolann, Ihope your boy is much better very soon.

Hi Carolann,

I'm so sorry to hear about Whizz :( :( :(

At least you've done all the right things and your vet is on top of the situation -  please God it will be a fairly minor procedure to have your little guy back to normal.
Have had words with Him Upstairs ;) - sending positive, healing thoughts and blessings your way and a gentle hug to Whizz.

I was thinking the same as annie ns, that there still might be some more ball inside him causing a blockage, hope its sorted soon and hes okay again!

i have just got back in from taking whizz to the vets, and they told me straight that because this seziure he has just had was long that they can not guarantee me that he will regain concisuness, if he does he could have brain damage.
