Hi I'm looking to buy a new harness for my dog, he's a large dog. I have a gencon head harness @ the moment but it's starting to rub on his head & leave bald patches, so I want to get a body harness & just want to know what one is best ( he pulls a lot!) Thanks Dani

I don't use a harness so can't comment on that but I do use a canny-collar at this time of year when out walking due to our dog's fear of fireworks. Would thoroughly recommend it - we have a GR - doesn't rub anywhere ( wheras the halti did). The collar operates from the back of the head and when he was panicked by a bird scarer going off I still had control of him and it works without jerking at all so is not likely to cause an accidental injury if he leaps forward.
It actually seems to be calming him with these sudden loud noises as he no longer tries to run forwards - just trots a bit quicker. If you google canny collar you will find their website and can see a video on how it works. :)
i believe the calmin affect you describe is due to it putting slight pressure on pressure points and therefore releasing a hormone, to calm the dog down.
how about a lupi, works especially well for bull breeds and wide chested dogs?

I have had a lupi when he was a puppy, but I think it would cut into him now as they aren't cushioned, hes a weimaraner x & the same size as a weimaraner.
I have used the Walkeeze Harness and the Kumfi Stop-Pull and I have found the Walkeeze to be excellent...I've also heard good things about the SENSE-ation and the SENSE-ible Dog Harnesses but haven't used either so cannot vouch for their effectiveness.
Tried to edit this post but time limit has expired. Just wanted to point out that it is the Walkezee harness that I've found very good.

I've found that too, although a certain red dobergirl resists everything but a halti headcollar... but the walkezee was the defining moment in Remy's pulling life, which changed him from "express train" to "annoying gitbag" :D because of that, I can now walk him on a normal harness if I want, or the headcollar as I do at the moment and he doesn't try to pull in it. If I'd tried it before the walkezee, he'd have fought it tooth and nail.
