2.20.a.m - woken up by dogs becoming restless - Freya starting padding about at the foot of the stairs, Thor starting to grumble, in the lounge and  Vinnie & Loki whining in the utility room.    As I'm being dragged back to consciousness, I'm aware that there is a strange light in the bedroom..........reflections of a flashing blue light outside:eek::eek::eek:

Dogs now all barking like crazy - I poke OH in the ribs and say "police - wake up" and I find my dressing gown and go to go downstairs - and frm the landing window, I can see ....a FIRE ENGINE backing away from the house up the lane!!!!

By this time, OH, Nik & Vic are all up and awake - so let dogs out for a quick widdle - check that we haven't got a fire anywhere - and back to bed again - Vic & me saying that we we'd KNOWN that we were having a visit from the Firemen, we'd have had some makeup on :D

Didn't get to sleep again until nearly 5am so feel like Nothing on Earth now.

I've phoned a friend who works at Brentwood Control, to see if she can find out what that shout was about!

Margot

PS - forgot to say that after all this, Freya came up to bedroom, OH got into bed first - then Freya jumped on (on my side!!!) and didn't want to get off!

I've not heard anything on the jungle (village) drums........as we are the only house at the bottom of a long windy lane, it's a bit of a puzzle!

We've often had fire engines coming down as part of a training exercise during the day - so that each watch acquaints itself from time to time with isolated properties - but never in the middle of the night with the blue light flashing!!

Perhaps the house up the lane were having a disco and the lights went out - so a friendly fireman came to the rescue :D
