Hi all

My lab bitch is in season (2nd). This first time she was in season she bled then her bits swelled after 10 days or so.  I counted 28 days from the first day of the bleed.  This time she is all swollen but no bleed as yet. My question is when do I start counting the days?  Im keeping her on lead as my friends dog who has been done is very keen on her at the moment so shes obviously giving off the right signals.

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes bitches have silent seasons (No bleeding) or swell before the season really starts.  If she doesn't start bleeding soon, then I would treat her as if she were having a bloodless season and count from now until all signs of swelling have gone.

Thanks brainless.  I spotted some drips of blood on the floor yesterday so Im counting the days now til its over.  She got quite a bit of attention today so local walks only from now on and playing in garden with ball to tire her out!!:-)

Some bitches show little colour (some of mine are like that on some seasons) which is why I dab with white tissue morning and night during the run up time to a season so as I can be sure not to miss it.
