Has anyone the name of a good Mortgage advisory company?? I am trying to get information on a mortgage that will be taken out next year as the house we are buying will not be completed till then. One of the problems is that my partner who is the major earner is over 60 and no one wants to speak to us till around 6 months before we want the mortgage.
We only want to get an indication if we will be considered or wasting our time and don't want to wait till the end of the year to find out that we can't get one.
Have tried Moneysupermarket.com, RBS, Alliance and Leicester, Woolwich/Halifax.

Northern Rock are a good company xx
Hi,
Anyone can give you an agreement in principle for the amount & term of the mortgage without a property, however you would need to redo it again about 6months before you were due to move in. this is because your credit score is updated monthy & interest rates can change before then. But yes you can get a basic yes or no.( our aip's last for 3m) With regards to your husbands age most lenders give mortgages to age 70. otherwise you could look at a lifetime mortgage which is repaid on death.
Hope this helps
Sharon
Thanks for the info. If lenders give mortgages to 70 does that mean the term is to finish then? The idea is that we take out a joint mortgage (with the OH paying most) initally, then on his retirement I would take on the remainder (with the OH paying out of his retirement pay) Seems simple to me but haven't found someone who will agree with that.
HI,
Most lenders will look to have the mortgage repaid on his 70th birthday. If you want to pm me I can give you the phone number of the intermediary I use with mortgages I cant deal with ( work in a bank & our criteria is v strict).
Sharon
ps know they are a bit far from you but they should know of someone local.
