When my pal moves in at the start of summer, she'll be bringing her two rabbits with her. We'll need to set up a secure home for them in the garden - there's simply no room indoors, and I'm not willing to leave them in the house, even secure in hutches, with proven rabbit killers
So I'm trying to come up with a design, and I got thinking; I'd like to get some birds, as I used to keep quails and finches and miss having them! Would it be at all possible to keep the rabbits in a well-designed aviary-come-animal pen withe the birds, or is it not feasible - or not safe? The quails, incidentally, would be the big japanese type, not the piddly little chinese painted ones. I'd also design a sort of feeding house for the quails, so they could go in through a small hole that the buns couldn't fit through, that way the rabbits would only get their own food.
And while I'm asking a rabbity question - the rabbits at the moment live separately, and my friend has tried to keep them together before but has given up as the buck tries to hump the doe and she gets annoyed with him. Both neutered, and by now they'll be about 2 years old, maybe a little more. Their usual home is a 4' x 2' hutch, no run, but they come out once a day - not many toys in there though. Could it just be frustration, is there a chance they could live together once they're in a much bigger area?
