Right I have now had ebba for 4 weeks :D :D
I havnt weighed her for a few weeks, but she doesnt look as if she is putting on weight even though #I am feeding her complete and trip.
BUT I havnt a clue how much she should weigh s can anyone help me :D
She is a small full rottie,
23"(approx) at the shoulder
18 months - 2 years old,
I can still feel her back bone quite prominently.
She is a calm Rottie and has spent most of the holidays inbetween walks asleep on the sofa!!!
2 weeks ago she was weighed and was 27.5 kg

Since no first handers have jumped in I'll tell you about my friend's rottie. He is about 22 months old, an entire dog and kind of petite. So he's about 23-24" at the shoulder (I'm guessing but he's the same size as my golden). He weighs around 45 kg and is pretty fit. I have a book about choosing breeds that list their size as 23-27" and 41-50 kg so that fits with the one dog I know.

I hope that's of some help. Judging from those smiley faces your new ickle girl is doing well otherwise. :-D did she like her posh new collar?

Probably less helpful, but my girl (3/4 rott, 1/4 GSD) is 24" and 31kg.  She's at her ideal weight too, and looks like a racy rottie - very muscular but the GSD shows through with her build.  So personally at least, I'd expect a rott of similar size to weight a bit more than she does.

I wouldn't worry too much. Weight gain as weight loss should be done gradually :)

If the vet has checked her over and given her a clean bill of health just keep up what you are doing and I am sure she will put a little more weight on ! Don't forgat as well she is getting over KC as well :)

I agree with the last reply.  I would check when she was last wormed, they should be done every 3 months with a wormer from your vets, i use drontal.  I'm sure she is fine!!! it may just be that she is growing and so the food she is getting is out into growing and so she is not putting on weight.  Look on the bright side at least she is not over weight and she is lucky enough to have a owner who cares!!!

Yep she has been wormed, she was wormed with Panacure the day she gopt to the kennels which was 2 1/2 weeks before I got her. So that is all up to date. I will re worm her at the same time as my original 2, but let them go 2 weeks over so they are all wormed together!!!
I have looked at her tonight and she actually seems to be loosing the very thin waist, but I have upped her food a bit, she was on the Same amount + a a packet of tripe a day, as my spayed Rottie cross and cocker, but have upped it a bit.
Thankyou everyone, I am just so worried about getting things wrong with her. And dont know a true rottie weight, just know my ex had a full rottie and she was a bit fat, but nearly double the size of ebba, nort in height tho!!
Gemma I had since 7 weeks, and Beano came from a breeder so have never had a previously neglected/starved dog!!!!!
And as for pics, I will nick mums digi camera and take some asap :D :D :D

Hi, Lea, Not ben on for a while, so just catching up!! First of all, is she Ok on the health front? If this is clear and the worming is pretty much up to date, I would look at her as a dog. Is she Ok in herself? If you have had her for a short time, she may still be adjusting to her new surroundings. Don't worry too much, just make sure that she eating at each meal time. My bitches at 2yrs (or there abouts) tend to weigh approx 30 - 35 kgs. I think if I was concious of keeping some weight on her, to feed her 3 (maybe four times a day) and give her a mixture of mainly tripe with a good quality (no derivitives) complete food. This is what I feed mine on, as I find that this helps keep the weight on them, their coats look fab' and they have plenty of energy for working and play!!

So Ebba isnt too far out on weight.
Her middle is filling out, but will be happier once her back bone isnt so prominent!!!
Health wish she is fine. Both vets that have seen her have given her a clean bill of health, She has a good shiney coat(It was dull the first time I saw her 1 1/2 weeks after she arrived at the rescue kennels) , alert, Active, very soppy LOL
At the moment she is on Wainwrights as havnt been able to get to get Berties, but she is on that and fresh tripe every night, and a few treats as well. She doesnt seem to scrounge so dont think she is still hungry.

I took Ebba to the school today and saw a Lady I hadnt seen since before Xmas. She was Shocked at Ebba!!!!
She said she has put on loads of weight and is a big bloater now, So must be alot better than when I got her :D :D :D :D (
That is good as I can still feel her ribs and her backbone so she is not overweight but also she is not as skinny as a rake!!!! Still needs building up a bit more but is heading in the right direction :D
Going to the vets next week for Vacs on Beano so will check her weight there then.

Hi Lea

My girl is 21 months and I last weighed her about 6 weeks ago and she was approx 42 kilo. I have never measured her but she is average size for a bitch. I have to watch out for her because she has been spayed and they do tend to bloat, but luckily Breeze is not a huge eater anyway.

Fat bloater :-D Has she been on my Christmas seam stretching diet then ;-) It must be gratifying to hear that her appearance has changed dramatically and people notice how much better she looks. Spoiled girl with tripe and posh collars. :-D Good for you Lea, you must be doing something right for her.

hi my 10 month rottie was weighed before xmas and was 35 kilos hes very lean looking but not sure on height must do that, i had a rough start with him as he has a food intolerence but we are getting there now yippee hes on jmb and green tripe .

He is gonna be a very big boy....

do you think so as when he was younger i did think he was small as he dont eat much and a lot of things upset him but hes always had a lovely shinny coat and very active.when do they stop growing in height, must get me tape measure out and gona get me daughter to do some photos and try and put them on.

Breeze was about a year old when she got to her full height and then she has started to fill out. I believe when they are 2 years, they are pretty much fully grown. At 19 months she was only 42 kilo and yours is 35 at 10 months. I am going to get her wieghed this weekend.

when dennis was 5 months old we had a go at ring craft but he was poorly a bit then and the woman kept saying how thin  he was and i should feed him this and that but i coundnt cause of his intolerence any way there was another rottie there 3 weeks older who weigth at 32 when mine was only 17 thats why i thought he was not that big, thanks for your advice not gonna worry any more shall just try and sort out his kevin stage

Took Beano to vets today for vacs and took the other 2 with me so I could weigh them all.
Ended up with them all in with the vet while Beano was done, and I asked her what she thought of Ebba's weight.
She felt her and said she was perfect. Right covering over ribs, well muscled and looks good :D :D :D :D
She has gone from 27.5kg in mid dec to 30kg today :D :D :D :D
I am sooooooo impressed.
Now just got to make sure I cut her food down a bit so she doesnt get fat!!!!
So, the tripe worked :) :) :)

That is ggod news. I took Breeze last sunday to Partners pet shop to get her weight and she is now 45kilo. She doesn't even look that big. She is now 22 months. I hope she is now fully grown.

i know this is a old post but talking about rotttie weight made me question my bitches weight she is a small bitch
and she ways 40kg would you say that was a good weight or could she do with loseing a fue pounds she does look stocky but she does have a waist. also she is 7 with no hip/joint problems

Hi. I am not an expert, but the average rottie bitch should be between 38 and 45 kilo, so on those terms she seems fine.
The vet weighed our girl a couple of weeks ago and she was only 42 kilo, the pet shop scales need callibrating........  She will be 2 next month and when we had here spayed, we had her hips exrayed and were told that on a scale of 0-5 (5 being bad) she was a 1.

thanks for replying, she has always been about the same weight for as long as i can remember i guesss there is nouthing to worrie about my male rottie that i had was only 35kgs he had very bad hips so we kept him slim. wish my girl was young again she is getting grey and a bit slow now do not like it as i had my male pts in june at 4 years old.

Its always nice chatting to other rottie owners.  They grow so fast, I remember when she was 4 weeks old when I first saw her, what a lovely ball of fluff.
On our walk this morning, I think she thought my arm was a stick and tried to grab it, she is still so playfull. We see this woman at the bus stop most mornings, and she bounces ups to her, sits to be petted and then runs back to me like a nutter. They are lovely dogs.
I am sorry to hear that you had your dog PTS in June. today is the 2 year anniversary of me haveing to put my last dog to sleep. He was a Collie X gsd.

yes its good to talk to people who dont screw there face up when u say u have a rott, dibs my girl was so small when we got her she was only 6 weeks, they are creatures of habit arnt they for as long as i can remember dibs has this habit that when we get back in our street after a walk she will tug her lead till i give it to her and then i say go home then an she trots off up the road head held high lead nicely folded in her mouth  an waits for me at the front door till im there i never taught it to her.

i love rotties, i love their smiles, i dont have one but my friend has had many. on the subject of weight, my GSD is much taller than the average and therefore his weight(52K) probably sounds very overweight but he is perfectly proportioned with a waist and ribs can be felt so i think you have to see a dog and not go too much by the book.

Your average Vet can be very wrong regarding hip status.  If you had your bitches hips x-rayed why not send the plates off for scoring to the BVA, it only costs a few more pounds.

Also re weight. 

In my breed a bitch of standard height (19 1/2 inches at shoulder) would weigh about 20kg.  My oldest two girls were about 20 inches and I kept them about 19.4kg. 

My kizi is 19 1/4 and weighs 18kg, and more and she would be fat.

Jozi is about 20 1/4 tall, and built like a brick outhouse.  I was shocked on Wednesday when she went to be spayed to find she weighed in at over 24kg, as she is not at all fat, and dead out of coat after her litter.  As an adult her average weight was about 22kg.  She is now 7 years old.

Her daughter Lexi is 19 3/4 inches tall and weighs exactly 20kg.
