Do best Rare Breed and best import register exhibits take part in their group at champ' shows?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 01.03.07 19:40 UTC
I don't know about rare breeds, but I'm 99% certain that Import Register breeds don't.

Not sure what you mean by Best Rare Breed so I'll try and make it clear.

Import reg winners cannot compete in the group.

A rare breed dog that goes BOB in it's breed CAN compete in the group (providing it is unbeaten)...

BUT - the dog declared Best AV Rare breed (from the AV Rare Breed classes) CANNOT go in the group (unless it also won BOB in it's breed of course).

Thanks guys, just wasn't sure. So, another one for you. I assume that puppies on the import register can compete in AV classes aswell as the import register? i.e. entering in the Purina Pup of the year classes, etc

Import register dogs can only compete in Import Register Classses

KC F Regs F(A)3.77

>Import Register

>For Breeds confined to the Imported Breeds Register & only when an Interim Breed Standard has been published by the Kennel Club. Such breeds may be exhibited in this class only, and are ineligible for any other competition whatsoever

No.  The only classes that any of the breeds on the import register can compete in are the IR classes.
