Anyone else annoyed at the loss of Sky One (and specifically 24 - no Jack

:() and Sky Two today? Hope they sort it out soon. I think Sky are very miffed at Richard Branson getting involved with cable and are playing dirty. :( I for one will not be switching to Sky and surely it won't be doing their advertising revenue much good to lose loads of cable customers?

Isn't it RB that has pulled the plug as surely Sky would loose valuble revenue ??

It is Lucy but on their website, they say it was because Sky kept hiking up the price to very unreasonable levels and if they had accepted, they would have had no choice but to pass these high increases on to their customers and therefore risk losing them. :( Bit of a no-win situation. As I said, I think Sky is miffed about some serious competition now Richard is involved.

I'm very annoyed with Sky too, and I'm glad that VM have stuck to their guns! I agree that Sky seem afraid of the stronger competition of VM and are playing silly beggars! I won't be switching to Sky either!!

Hopefully VM will come through. Typical because as I type, I am sitting here waiting for VM to arrive to install a new V+ box and associated bits for phone, broadband etc! :D

I say good on RB as I am sick of Sky and the way they highjack Sports events and charge over the top for viewers to pay as you go :rolleyes:
I used to enjoy being able to watch the Test Cricket etc but refuse to pay Sky for it

I like to use active on sky news so was a bit miffed when OH wanted to change over to cable as he wanted plus and it worked out cheaper to change over, any way I moaned so he set up our old sky box
which becomes freeview so I have the best of both worlds I can still have sky and active all for free!

I believe Sky are stopping their channels on Freeview....

It is Virgin Media & Sky that have fallen out nothing to do with Freeview(the Sky channels on there come directly from them)
Apparently Sky kept hiking up the cost the Virgin & Virgin won't pay

It emerged late yesterday that from the Spring, if Ofcom approves, Sky News will no longer be available free to viewers on Freeview. They are trying too & Ofcom haven't ok'd it yet, don't think much of their coverage anyway

Just as well I have SKY then :D Feel sorry for those people who have Virgin etc and have lost the SKY channels though

Boo hoo, I want my Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, adn the New Battle star Galactica!!!!
I'm really cheesed off at losing '24' - I've watched every series, including this one. :( While I think Sky has done this deliberately, I do think Virgin Media should compensate all their customers for the loss of what is a major channel in their package.
Some hope for you anyway Michelle, got this from the Virgin Media website:
Worried about losing Lost?
We're planning to add all 3 series of Lost to our revolutionary on demand service. Series 1 and 2 will be available soon and series 3 is coming your way later this year. What's more, since they're all available on demand, they'll be ready for you to watch anytime you like. Watch one, watch them all, back to back - without the ads.
What makes you think Sky might be starting to backtrack?

I'm annoyed with Sky. Have to say I won't be missing it that much though. I like Bones and the new series Dresden Files is all right but most of the time it's rerun after rerun of the Simpsons. SkyOne isn't worth all that much. Not enough for me to want to pay more for my cable service. I think they've cut their nose off...

We never watch Sky anyway - most of the programmes on it are rubbish :D :D :D As soon as we move next year, we'll only have Freeview. We only keep our cable subscription going for the children when they come home. All these extra channels just increase the time that is spent watching TV - the quality of most programmes is awful :) :) IMVHO :D :D ;)

When I hear all this I'm so pleased we only have terrestrial TV! :D When the analogue signal is switched off we plan to get rid of the TV completely. :)
tbh it dusnt effect me because im with sky and would never go bk to cable, they never gave us a good service atall. even tho theyve changed over ide still never go bk.
it is unfair that theyve stopped the channels for none sky veiwers :(
