i had to be woken up myself last night as i was whimpering and OH was worried, i remember my dream, it was a perfectly nice old woman walking towards me in a corridor........but i was terrified.....strange thing the brain, well mine anyway!
Hi. One of my Danes used to wag her tail in here sleep. When she was asleep on her side it would start. It would raise off the floor and fall again onto the laminate flooring with a thud and it never woke her up. She would do this for a few minutes. She sometimes howled while asleep without moving her mouth much to. Was scary to listen to. Ghost like. (Not that i've heard one)!

They display rapid eye movements which means that the probably do dream. Cats do as well! Why shouldn't they - they are both intelligent animals.

After much research into new developments the across the board theory is that they do dream in much the same way as us but for not as long. All puppies twitch and paddle in their sleep and definitely mine have suckled too. I still think they are acting out what they did in the day after all they do move about a lot when awake and I guess when the weight is off their legs and they are lying flat they are more likely to look as if they are running.
After all these years of having dogs and puppies I am looking at mine with even deeper love and respect. You cant help but be amazed by the things the already know, how quickly they learn, their capacity for love and all the other things that go with being mans best friend. Their intelligence has not yet been properly measured IMO I think we still have a lot to learn.
